•lunch

i'm getting in my locker when i feel a pair of arms wrap around me

"hey gorgeous" anthony says from behind me.

"hey hey" i say, afraid to let him see my face.

"you never texted me back, i started thinking something was wrong" he says as i shut my locker.

"nope everything's fine, i had just been busy" i said, turning around but not looking at him.

"hey, look at me" he says pushing my chin up to look at him.

i take a deep breath and look at him and watch as his face floods with concern

"cameo, what the crap happened?" he asks me while turning my head to get a better look at my bruise.

"um i tripped and fell face first on the floor" i say, trying to laugh.

"falling on the floor gave you that?" he says, following behind me as i begin to walk towards the lunch room.

"yep, crazy right?" i smile.

"uh yeah, um i was wondering if you wanted to hang out after school though?" he asks me with curious eyes.

"i really wish i could but i have a project in history that i need to start today. guess who my partner is though" i say while rolling my eyes

"who?" he asks, not bothering to guess.

"grayson dolan, he asked me to come over and work on it after school" i say, walking into the lunch room.

"well don't let him be too mean to you or else imma have to step in" he says acting all cocky

"oh alright, if he gives me any problems you'll be the first person i call." i say with a smile

we sit down at an empty table and don't bother to pay attention to the stares and whispers we are getting.

"how did she manage to get him?" someone said

"he does not know what he's getting himself into" another said.

"can you believe she had the nerve to even try and get with him?" one last person said

i laid my head down and sighed

"don't listen to them" anthony whispers to me

"it's hard not to" i admit, looking up at his face.

he grabs my hand and runs his thumb along the back of it.

"i know, but they're just jealous the don't have what we have baby" he says and just hearing the nickname made my face light up.

he leans forward and kisses me and in spite of everyone looking at me i welcome the kiss with open arms

we pull apart and completely forgot about everything else going on around us. it was just me and him. by the end of lunch we had no more stares, no more whispers, only our presence.
