Lonely Hufflepuff

Chapter 1

-July 30th 1992-

I'm sitting in my usual spot in class, Watching the clock, waiting for the bell to let out. Just a couple more minutes. I heard my name being called and looked up at my teacher, Mrs, Welch. "Um... Yes Mrs, Welch?" The whole class was laughing. Mrs, Welch shook her head "Miss rose, what is the answer to this problem?" She pointed her ruler at the board. 58 / 8 = ? This is too easy. "Its 7.25 Mrs.Welch." She smiled at me and nodded her head. And then the bell rung. I immediately grabbed my bag, and ran out side, I noticed all the other kids staring at an owl that was sitting on a fence next to the school. I waited for the other kids to get on the buss, before walking up too. "Hello. Who are you waiting for?" I whispered as I rubbed its head. It made a sound and flew down the sidewalk. I shrugged my shoulders and started my walk home. Humming to myself, ignoring the kids who would laugh at me from the bus when it would pass me. when I finally got home I noticed the owl from before was sitting on the window seal, just outside the kitchen. I opened the front door and called out. "Papa, Nana, I'm home!" I heard my papa calling "In here" From the living room. Walking to the living room, as I started telling Papa about my day. "Papa, on my way home from school I saw..." I stopped mid-sentence when I noticed Papa talking to two men. One was wearing all black. and the other was a really old man, with a long beard. The man with the beard stood, up and smiled at me. "Hello, Mabel. Soo great to finally meet you. I'm Albus Dumbledore. And this is Severus Snape." He motioned towards the other man. I did a small curtsy "Pleasure to meet you" My papa motioned me over, to sit next to him. Mister Dumbledore sat down, and pulled a letter out of his robe, and handed it to me. I flipped it over and opened it. I pulled out the first paper

Dear Ms.Rose,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

The term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

I looked up at the men curiously. "Papa, what is this?" I looked over a papa, while he started talking "Mabel my dear, you've to be accepted to the same school me and your father went too." I widened my eyes,... I always thought it was fake. "But, papa, those were just stories it can't be real..." I looked over at the Mister Dumbledore and Mister Snape "Cant it?" Mister Dumbledore chuckled, smiling. "Mabel my dear, it is very much real." I don't think I have ever smiled so wide. I Pulled out the second paper, out of the envelope.

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

UNIFORM:

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (black, with silver fastenings)

Please note that all pupil's clothes should carry name tags.
