(Hey everyone, just to tell you right now. This story is told from my point of view except for certain things that will be exempted, I will make the story realistic as possible, little to no logic will be defied and physics will also be realistic. In addition, my personality in real life will greatly influence the choices that are made by me. Thank you.)
---------------------------
It's been quite a while since both unfortunate and fortunate things happened that led me to where I am now. I'll explain what I can.
Datalog 1:
I lived on my home planet called Aartis (Didn't want to use Earth.) where life was perfect, there was nothing to worry about. Everything I needed was there, all that was needed was to ask. It was a normal Friday morning walk to school. Cars passed by and students walled the sidewalks. Suddenly portals started appearing from the sky, ships came down and brought chaos among the city. There was only one thing in my mind, survival.
It's been a few weeks since then, the world I once knew was gone. My planet Aartis surrendered to the Combine just within 7 hours, universal empire with only a single goal in mind. To assimilate the population and natural resources for their own benefit. Everything I knew was gone, cities, the military, our freedom as Americans, and my family are all gone. Who knows where everyone is now.
The shelter that I currently live in is a bomb shelter, probably supposed to be used by the family who built it in case of a nuclear war. They probably didn't make it in time, guess its mine now. It was filled with much-needed supplies. Food, water, medical supplies, clothing, air filtration, and even a computer. All of it worked except for the electronics, probably because of the invasion.
Months pass, skills I'd never thought of had to be learned. Life was never supposed to be like this, it doesn't matter now. During scavenging, my feet led me back to my school and a police academy. Both lay in ruin but still contained textbooks that are worth learning from.
A few miles away is what appears to be an outpost. Soldiers guard it 24/7 so sneaking in is not a good idea. Should return sometime, however.
Datalog 2: (three years after Log 1)
Didn't expect anything to change. Everything is nothing but uninhabitable. Creatures roamed the neighborhoods and patrols by what appears to be police is more constant.
Hope fades away from me each day...
I sit on the roof of a house, my can of food and a bottle of water in my hand as the sun starts shining. A loud booming noise fills the air, my head jolts up to see several space ships appear within orbit.
None of them seem to be affiliated with the Combine but that still doesn't prevent fear from making me rush back to my shelter. For several days, sounds of lasers and gunfire are heard. Some far away, some sounding like just right above me. Then they all stopped.
My body laid in bed as my head rested on a pillow. It's time that I see what's going on. The bunker hatch opens as I climb out, a backpack of supplies and a knife in my hand is all that is with me. For the first time in my life, I'm able to see a Combine soldier. The armored unit is sprawled out in the middle of the road, it's arm bleeding from a wound.
It quickly gets startled and aims it's weapon at me, seeing that I'm no threat, the soldier lowers the rifle. I move closer until we are both face to face, none of us utter a single sound. My eyes focus on the elegant design of the armor before looking at the wound. "There is a place that we could use to fix you up. Let's get moving." To my surprise, the soldier stands up and follows me, an APC is conveniently lying around. Guess there's only one place that we can go too. The outpost.
