"Sis, we must run" He spoke with fear as he pulled on his sister hand as she came to a stop while they were running. His bright blue eyes looking to his sister while his short blonde hair blew slightly in the wind.

"We need to return, they going to kill him for helping us" She spoke with worry as her raven eyes glanced to the burning castle, her long black hair waving in the wind.

"If we return then we will be killed and his sacrifice will mean nothing. He knew the risks when he helped us escape and stayed behind to buy us time, we must run" The elder brother begged as he pulled on his sister hand.

"but I just cant leave him behind, He important to me just like you and our parents. We the only family he got left and yet we just going to leave him behind to die .. I'm sorry brother but please escape alone" She replied with sadden eyes and pulled her hand free.

"I sware to go if you dont marry this guy if we survive then I'm going to kill you myself, lets go" He sighed and ran with his sister back towards the overrun castle, their enemy slowly taking over and killing all the staff.

The fourteen year old prince and the ten year old princess used the hidden tunnels to enter the castle once again, taking care to keep silent in hopes the enemy wouldnt hear them in the hidden walls. They kept their ears out before reaching an old room and jumping out from behind a painting. The princess turned to the painting as her brother closed it, the painting of them and their parents before their parents died long ago. Her brother ran over to the door, listening out for any footsteps before turning to his sister following her line of sight.

"We can still safe him unlike our parents" He smiled making her turn to him before nodding and running over to help find a certain servant boy who they both thought of a close friend.

"We going to save him and escape together" She demanded before opening the door, letting her head checks the halls before stepping out.

The two ran down the halls making sure to stay clear of any enemy soldiers while looking around for the servant boy who was only twelve years old but a boy who grew close to the royal child without ever asking for anything in return.  He was the only friend the two ever made and was glad to have in their young lives.

A boy who they both were willing to run back into their burning home and die by the enemy hands just to save him. He was the one person they saw worthy enough to live and maybe help rule the kingdom one day if the two young royals ever died.

As they reached the princess bedroom they heard a noise from inside and both snuck inside only for the young prince to have a knife against his throat. The princess move without thinking thanks to her training and held her own small knife to the unknown figure throat before her rave eyes widen at seeing wide raven eyes staring back.

"Princess" The boy spoke in shock, his raven eyes looking at her stunned as his short black hair stuck slightly to his sweaty face showing he been fighting a little.

"Oh thank god, I was worried we would be too late" She spoke before hugging him, feeling his arms wrap around her.

"We should leave, I'm sure the soldiers will start gathering up and someone will notice no one has seen us yet" The prince mumbled as he kept an ear out by the door.

"Why didnt you two leave, I pushed you into the hidden tunnels didnt I" The boy asked confused.

"We couldn't just leave you behind to die, we a family and we either live together or we die together not leaving one to die" The princess spoke from the heart as she held his hand before turning to her brother who stood with a kind smile and nodded in agreement.

"Lets escape by the window, We should be the only three who know the hears off by heart and can escape without being seen" The prince smiled and pulled out some rope from his sister bed before opening the window.

"Good thing you two always use to sneak out, it might just save us this time" The boy smiled and helped tie one end of the rope to the closed window bar while the prince threw the other end outside the window.

"I knew all our extra wildness would save us and I'm going down first" The princess spoke as she walked over to the window, grabbing a tight hold on the window.

"Let me go, I should check if its save for you" the boy replied with worry and turned as the prince placed his hand on his shoulder.

"She still only wearing her night dress, She going down while no eyes can look up" The prince spoke in a big brother voice and the boy nodded in understanding.

Soon all three were running into the dark spooky woods, neither looking back to their once home not wishing to remember how it ended. It was there home, a home all three felt like the belonged to no matter how harsh their lives were or became it was still the place they belonged too.

Now they had to live on not because two of them were royals but for the ones who died in their home and could never escape. They had to live on for those souls who would become trapped forever and forgotten in history while time passed.

The three took a small break to catch their breath and clam their hearts, they may have looked calm but inside they were a mess. The enemy attacked without reason or warning, yes the two royals were young but their grandfather was ruling the kingdom until the prince was off age to rule and that wasn't for another two-four years meaning it wasn't like anything would change yet. The two royals felt bad for not crying over their grandfather death but they never became close to him, he only took them in after their parents deaths but never accepted or respected the children. He only saw their blood line nothing more.

The servant boy wished he could help this friends but he had no clue what to say or act, he was ready to die in hopes they lived on and yet they retuned for him and him alone. But he also knew they needed to keep running, the three may have been the only ones who knew the woods off by heart but he was sure the enemy king would send his men out looking and well it wouldnt take forever for trained soldiers to spread out and search all of the woods.

They started running again and soon reached the edge of the woods almost reaching the town, they stayed running towards the town knowing they could hide and get help even if it was till the morning they knew they would be safe. But as they reached the edge of the town all they saw was blood and bodies. The town was saluted without mercy, men, women, children and the old all killed.

"We can steal a couple horses and ride until morning. If we keep travelling then we can reach the next kingdom. Its stronger and will help protect us since we still just children" The servant boy spoke weakly as he stayed walking on.

"Why must they kill so many, these people did not deserve such a death nor did they needed to die during this battle" The princess frowned as she walked past.
