"What do you mean she has cancer again?! This must be a mistake! Tell them to run the machine again and then call me." I walked outside the school and I started to tear up. My mom means everything to me. I called a cab. The cab didn't show up for about 15 min. While I was waiting Coach Smith came
"You got a ride Perry?"
"Yeah coach."
"What's the matter Perry? You're on the team."
"Yeah I knowit's nothing."
"C'mon just tell me." Why did he want to know so bad? I just met him today, why is he acting like he cares?
"It's about my mom, she used to have a cancer but then it went away and then she went in for a cat scan just to see if it was gone, but it came back." When I was done talking my throat felt like it started to swell up when you're trying to hold back a cry. Coach just stared at me.
"I'm sorry to here that Jack." Coach had said it like he cared but I knew he didn't.
"Thanks Coach."
"No problem. Hey I just had to ask how come you didn't go out for basketball last year? Or the years before that. I go and watch the elementary, and JR. High just to see what I have to work with on the upcoming years. I didn't see you. And by what I've seen you're very talented."
"Well like I said she had cancer. My dad left before I was born so me and her are the only ones who have each other. I have her back she has mine, she means everything to me. I just tell people that the cancer was a precaution becauase I know if I told someone they wouldn't care."
"Well I do.." There was a brief pause and then "hooonkk". I looked up and there was the cab I grabbed my bag and headed torwards the car. I got in and threw my bag to the otherside of the car. "Churchill 547 Ave. please?"
"You got it," said the cab driver.
I leaned my head on the window and thought of mom. How proud she would be in me for making it. Im just happy I made it. I did it to see her smile.
