The camera shakes and spins briefly about a room the audience has seen before. It stops and focuses on Tul. He's there and looking so young with his schoolboy haircut and freshly tucked white shirt. He's scrambling to find his books.
The people at home don't see the Tul they recognize at all. This one isn't smooth and calm, but ruffled. His hair isn't perfect. This Tul looks panicked.
We see his roommates bent spine as he reads his computer screen and we hear their short conversation.
"You need to hurry. He could be here any second. You have thirty minutes before your class starts. It's on the far side of the campus."
Tul is panting as he speaks. He finds himself talking to the back of his roommate's head. "You know my schedule as well as I do; thank god you know his too. What would I do without you?"
The lens shows the long hallway of the old building. It moves and is just outside Tul's dorm. The series watchers see Tul dash away from the antique elevator that is on the move upwards. It's the caged kind and was installed a hundred years after the building was built. Young Handsome bolts in the direction of the stairs.
Slowly, the frame backs down the hall. The bell sounds and we view Ten stepping from the lift.
He looks both ways, shoves Tul's dorm door open and scopes the space. "Where is he?" I told you to stall him."
"I tried P'. I did everything I could to keep him here."
The watchers at home see Bip hold up a stack of textbooks. "I even hid these from him."
The director shows us a beauty shot of Tenten. It's up close and zoom's in on what admittedly, is a charming smile. "Come here."
The books fall to the floor and Bip swings both arms around Ten's neck.
He moves his face close.

They shared two beers, and even before the second was gone, Ohm took the can away from Toey. To say he's a lightweight, would be a gross understatement, and featherlight, still too weighty a word.
He could manage a sloppy walk by himself, and slurry talk just fine. Toey was at the stage where he wanted to pinch Ohm's cheeks and tell him how cute he was. Toey enticed Ohm and asked if he wanted to go to the beach for a nighttime swim. His tempting timbre turned to a whisper: "You don't need a bathing suit."
Doc went behind Ohm and leaned against him. He used his shoulderblade as a pillow. His arms drooped loosely as he moaned Ohm's name.
"P', will you take care of Doc for me while I say goodbye to Deek and Khoom?"
Toey latched his arms around Ohm. "I want to say goodnight too."
Green and Heng stood but didn't move. They were still holding hands.
"We'll stay out here. Khoom doesn't like it when there are too many people in the room."
Chiihin and Khoom had taken the game controllers from Deek and Niichi. The guy's gobbled their ice cream bars and had both fallen asleep.
"You can wake them up P'Doc. Chiihin's dad is already on his way." Khoom pointed at the lightswitch.
Toey turned the overhead light on, and Ohm kneeled down beside his brother. He started rubbing Deek's back. "Deek... Deek..."
Deek groaned, sat up and wiped the side of his mouth. It took him a second or two, to fully wake. He seemed surprised that Niichi had slept as well. Deek shook him gently by the upper arm.
Chiihin's phone pinged. She pulled it, and a cardigan, from a handbag so small, that it could only fit via witchcraft. She slid to the edge of Khoom's bed. "Dad's at the corner Nong. We should get our shoes on."
Khoom and Chiihin, Ohm and Toey, all looked at the boys, both sitting up now on the floor.
Niichi's neck stretched up and his eyes scanned all of them. He turned to Deek.
"Thanks for tonight, Deek. I'm going to say bye to P'Heng now. Ok?"
Deek nodded at Niichi and then turned his head to look up at the four standing seniors. He seemed to struggle for his words: "We... you guys can leave now..."
Niichi flashed-kissed Deek's cheek. He stood and quickly nuzzled his way through the group gathered and entranced in the doorway.
Deek was soundless, frozen and dazed with a gaping mouth. The side of his face tingled.
The one who had a bit too much to drink, was the one who broke the silence. Toey blocked Niichi's escape with a hand clutching the doorframe.
"We should get out of here you guys. Can't you see they wanna..."
"Ah! Where is P'Heng?" Niichi slipped under Toey's arm and out into the hall.
At least two full minutes of goodnights and thank yous happened before Deek came outside. Niichi had already won Heng's heart with his polite candor. He told Heng that he hoped he would be welcomed back someday.
None of them knew that Deek used those two minutes still sitting on the bedroom floor. He replayed the peck on his cheek, over and over again.
...
Khoom teased Deek relentlessly. "He laughs at everything you say."
