When I opened my eyes, it looked like I was in the attic still, but it was different, it was darker, and Caleb wasn't here anymore.

You could hear screaming from every direction, but I couldn't see even 4 feet in front of me. I snapped my fingers, and a ball of light appeared in my hand, illuminating the room.

I had picked up a few tricks from reading that book. I just didn't think it would be so easy to do, guess I was wrong.

With a proper light source, I proceeded to look around the room. It was pretty much the same, except there was no pentagram on the floor. The room was grey; everything was grey and lifeless.

I had to be fast in me being here the book stated that the longer you're here, the harder it becomes to leave the place.

I left the attic and the house. I had to search for this thing or whatever it was to increase my power, I was just worried I wouldn't be able to control it, and maybe the darkness would consume me, Alas though I had to try at least, I felt confident enough in myself that I could keep myself under control.

After leaving the house, everything around was empty. The house was the only thing I could see. Everything else was in darkness.

I could feel bad energy coming from this place. It was something I'd never experience before.

I saw a figure in the distance, but the further I got to him, the further away he got. I had to find him; maybe he would lead me to where I needed to be.

"wait," I screamed as loud as my lungs would allow me, but the darkness swallowed my voice as soon as it came out.

I couldn't see the house or the man anymore. I was just standing in this endless void.

It's safe to say I was terrified this was somewhere I never thought I'd be and honestly, I regretted coming here, it was my odd obsession to be as powerful as I can be.

The man appeared again this time he was much closer than previously.

I shot shadows towards him to try to pull him to me, but they went straight through him.

He let out an extremely demonic laugh that made this entire place shake.

"foolish child do you not know who I am, this is my realm" he laughed

"Then you know why I'm here."

"you seek power, child, but why do you deserve it?"

"I can and will control it," I said sternly "now who are you."

"Dear Child, I am Papa Legba, the gatekeeper of life and death, and no power shall be granted until a deal has been made."

"Let us strike a deal so."

"A deal for the power you seek will not come easily, child."

"what's the terms?"

"In exchange for the dark power you seek, you must deliver me a pure soul once a month, if this deal is broken, I will take your soul for eternity."

"Explain the power to me first, Papa."

"Well-child you will have the power of the shadows, they pierce through the soul itself if needed, they can darken the sky and control someone's mind,

shadows embrace will teleport you wherever you need to go, you will become unkillable by mortal objects or mortals, reanimate the dead and many other things child."

I wanted to sound brave, but the thought of killing a pure soul, A good person was a lot to take in. I wanted this power, but how far should I go to take it.
