Carry on my wayward son by Kansas was playing on the radio and Noah sang along to every lyric. I looked at him as I pass the Salt Lake sign that said welcome. He looks at me and stops. "What?" He asked. I shrug as I turn my attention on the road.

"How do you know every lyric?" I asked.

"My father used to sing it when we went on road trips. It just got stuck in my head since." I nod slowly.

"It's a great song." He lets out a puff. I look at him. His eyes were on mine.

"It's a classic." I shake my head as I giggle at him.

"You know under all your bad boy vibe you are cool person to hang out with." He smiles.

"You're not so bad yourself." I smile. He sighs. "I envy you. Your life is so interesting." I look at him for a second and turned my attention back on the road. I opened my mouth to say something when red and blue lights flashed behind me. I groaned.

"It's about to get a hell lot more interesting," I said as I pull over to the side. He looks back and looks back at me. I grab out my registration and pull out my license. I roll down my window as the cop walks over to me. I stare forward until I heard them clear their throat. I turned to them with a fake smile. His dirty dishwater blonde hair was extremely messy and his oak wood brown eyes sparkled as he smiled.

"License and registration, please." I held them in my left hand as I leaned on my door.

"What did I do officer?" I asked. He placed his hands on his belt.

"I'll be asking the questions, Hope." I look away from him.

"What is it this time, Elijah? Ran a red light? Speeding? Oh, maybe I ran a stop sign?" I said looking back at him. He leans a little towards me with his smile.

"If you don't corporate there will be another ticket added on." I sigh.

"Go ahead, Elijah. You and I both know that whatever charges you put on me won't stick." He sighs as he stands straight. He looks off in the distance.

"I thought daddy stopped paying to get you out of trouble?" he asked as he turned back to me with a smirk. I looked forward as I handed him my information. He took them from me and looked at it. "Good girl."

"Bite me." He chuckles as he walks back to his car.

"Am I missing something?" Noah asked as he glances back at Elijah. I shake my head.

"I'll explain it in a minute." Elijah came back and handed me back the information. I turned to him.

"You're all set to go."

"You mean you trying to ticket me was just a waste of time?" He let out a fake laugh.

"Get out of here before you make it worse." I smiled at him.

"It's a shame they wasted such a perfect uniform on a spoiled rich kid who cheated his way through college. There's only so much money your parents can spend on you before they realize it's pointless." He leaned closer than before and gave me a wicked smile.

"My bank account has enough to buy this car of yours a dozen times over. You wouldn't understand with your daddy having money and you barely being able to pay for college. It's a shame your daddy wasted such a perfectly good car on a poor virgin who can't even afford to pay a single ticket." He said popping the T. I glared at him. He chuckled when he got the reaction he wanted. He stands up and plays with his belt. "I'll see you around, Hope." He said walking back to his car. I gripped my steering wheel as I sucked on my teeth.

"I'm going to take a wild guess that he was the ex-boyfriend with the rich parents and dad who's a dean?" Noah said. I nodded. I waited for Elijah to pass before I drove off. I got to Deon's house and he was waiting outside. He smiled as I turned off the car and got out.

"Hey, beautiful." I smile at him.

"Hey," He wraps his arms around me for a second and pulls back. His eyes look at Noah.

"Hey, Noah." He said a little confused. Noah gives him a small smile.

"Hey, Deon." Deon looks down at me.

"I didn't know you were bringing him." I gave him a small smile before looking away.

"Kind of a last-minute decision."

"It's okay. I just didn't think you were going to bring anyone. You never do." I look at him as he smiles. I nod slowly. He takes a deep breath and turns around. I glance back at Noah to motion him to follow. We walk inside as Deon hummed. His house was a two-bedroom tow story. It was a tan color. The kitchen floor, cupboards, and counter were marbled blue.  His bathroom was the same design. The master bedroom had a walk-in closet and a bay window. The second room had a regular closet and a queen size bed that he used as a guest bedroom until Kate and he has a child. "Did you have any trouble on your way?" I let out a puff knowing what he meant. He stops walking and turns to me.

"He's an ass who thinks the rules don't apply to him because he's rich." He shakes his head as he looked away.

"Elijah so damn lucky I can't afford to go to jail." I sigh.

"Deon just drop it please." He looks at me ready to protest until he sighs.

"Fine."
