As for the person that Yun Bei Fen had just thought about finding, he had long made his way over to Elder Baili's study.

When he had knocked, Elder Baili hadn't put on any pretenses. Who would come to see him at this time if not Mei Chao Bing? Thus he merely asked him to come inside and looked up from the table where he had been pondering the clues they had received once again.

Seeing Mei Chao Bing, he tried to push the matter away and focus on the person in front of him but since it had always been Mei Chao Bing who informed them about everything, it was hard to do. "Why aren't you spending your time with Fen'er and instead coming to see me? You wouldn't have noticed something else, would you?"

Mei Chao Bing lowered his gaze and wondered what to say to that. He had maybe figured something out but he wasn't sure about that. And it wasn't anything more than a guess right now.

Elder Baili sighed and waved for him to come over and sit down at the table. "Whatever it is, you can just tell me slowly."

Mei Chao Bing cupped his fists and bowed. "Thank you, Elder." He went forward and sat down opposite him, taking a look at Elder Baili's face. Despite what had happened with his Master, he did trust this person. Maybe it was because of what Yun Bei Fen had said: Contrary to his own Master, Elder Baili was much friendlier.

Maybe that made him unwittingly give his trust even though he should know better. Or maybe despite what he told Yun Bei Fen, he himself also wasn't willing to give up his trust in people.

Anyway, since that was the case, there was no reason to hold anything back. "To make matters short: I believe my Master is involved in this. And I believe that we didn't find these clues just because of a coincidence. I think that he wanted us to find them."

Elder Baili gave him a long look and then sighed once again. "I guess that there's a chance this might be true. As for how likely it is ... It's hard to say. What do you think he could gain from this?"

Mei Chao Bing pondered. In fact, this was the most difficult thing about this. If he could say for sure what it was that his Master was after, then he wouldn't be hesitating about this. But he wasn't. In fact, he didn't have any idea. "The only thing I can imagine is that us investigating might play into his hands. As for how ..." Mei Chao Bing shook his head. "I don't know. I guess we will only find out when we know what they are actually after. I'm just afraid that it won't be a good surprise."

Baili Chao nodded. "Whatever it is, it can't be good. As for whether or not your Master is involved in this, it's hard to say. We don't know what his status in the demonic sects is. Considering his level, it shouldn't be low. But who can say for sure?" He hesitated for a moment but then still spoke up again. "We send a message to the Sect Master Zhang. We also intend to inform the Jian Chu Sect of what we found. But for that, we'd like to wait until we have heard back from the Teng Yong Sect. Furthermore, even if we tell the Jian Chu Sect, I'd like to leave your name out of this."

"That would be for the best."

Baili Chao nodded. "I'm glad that you see it the same way. If things go wrong, you'd just be attacked again. If they turn out well, then I'm sure that the Sect Master will make known that you had a large part in this."

Mei Chao Bing nodded but he didn't really care. As long as his little bunny was alright and people weren't making trouble, it wasn't important. He didn't need to become a well-respected Elder of the sect. He had never had such aspirations.

Originally, when he had been young, he had just wanted to make his Master proud. After that, he had trained hard to be worthy of Yun Bei Fen. Now, he just wanted to keep him safe.

His goals had never been too ambitious. He intended to keep it that way. If you were too ambitious, then you would only have more reason to make some dumb decisions. He didn't want to be that person. No, it was better to lead a simple life without too much temptation.

He got up again and once again cupped his fists. "Then I will go back now. Yun Bei Fen is currently training. I should be there to help him along."

Elder Baili glanced at him and couldn't help but show some interest. "How is it working out?"

"Quite well. He'll still need quite a bit of time to practice more but I'm sure he'll be able to get the hang of it soon."

Elder Baili nodded again, satisfied with that. "He was never too fast in these things. Don't try to rush him. He needs some time but when he finally figures things out, he isn't bad."

"I know. I saw that already when we practiced in the woods."

"He can count himself lucky that you're helping him so much." Elder Baili gave him a smile and then motioned to the door as if to say that he should go already.

Mei Chao Bing gave him a last look and then left. Yes, compared to his Master, Elder Baili was much better. Unfortunately, he had somehow ended up with that kind of person. It really made him wonder what it was that led his Master to choose him back then.
