To the friend that is always happy & energetic, I see you
I see through the smile you plaster on to make others feel better
I see through the energy you send out to make others enjoy life
I see through the motivational words & encouragements you tell others to make them know you're there for them
You're there for others but who's there for you?
To the friend that is always happy & energetic
Being the life of the party is a full time job that doesn't come with sick days
Show up on time, do it right and there won't be any problems
You have one job and one job only
Don't consider you can -no don't THINK you can just take a break, take a day off
The others need you the same way a fish needs water, a baby needs nuturing & an adult needs a partner
You want to be sad, no not allowed cause that'll throw the whole dynamic
You wanna say how you're feeling, nope not allowed either cause you're the helper not the helpie
To the friend that is always happy & energetic
The more you try to hide your pain, the more it becomes visible... but yet not so visible
You've been hiding it for so long that you don't know which is your actual personnality
Was it a mistake to take on this facade?
When you're feeling blue who do you go to?
Are you your own psychologist? or psychiatrist?
Booze & drugs is just what the doctor ordered... prescibed
Or is sittinng alone with your thoughts the remedy?
Or even sex, I mean we've been told it's a good stress relief...
Even if you do one or all of those things you still feel the same
Don't get me wrong, good things come to those who wait but do you expect them to believe that after multiple years?
"There's a light at the end of the tunnel" coming from someone who hasn't gone through anything grave...
How about just being there for them instead of telling them what to do if you sit at the right hand of the father
To the friend who is always happy & energetic
You just want to be heard, for once
Sit on the other side of the table, for once
Have someone be your cheerleader, for once
Be there for you the way you're there for others
But that's not going to happen
So get up, dust yourself off, dry your tears
Look at yourself in the mirror because the real you will only be seen by you
So tell yourself
To the friend who is always happy & energetc
I see you because I am you and you are me
