Sam's POV:
My eyes widened and I suddenly felt overwhelmed by the words that left her mouth moments ago. I may have always been interested in the idea, but I wasn't sure if I was ready for this kind of step. Saying yes to a diaper gives up all control. My brain played tug of war with my heart in a matter of seconds, but that just lead to more confusion. All of the what-if questions began to plague my mind as it became difficult to take deep breaths.
Kayla embraced me in a hug and I tightly gripped her shirt collar. She steadily rocked me from side to side and laid forehead kisses occasionally. In a matter of minutes, the panic and lack of oxygen were depleted.
"How are you doing sweet girl?"
"I'm feeling much better than I normally do after something like that happens," I said, reflecting on past experiences.
"You don't have to wear it if it's going to cause this much panic. We can just get you to the potty more often to combat it," Kayla said worriedly.
I shook my head. The small panic attack had cleared my head and I made a decision.
"Use your words, sweetheart."
"I-um I want to wear it," I whispered out.

Kayla's POV:I smiled in surprise of her admission and as a blush graced her features. I always had a hunch that she was hiding something she wanted.
The little one, clearly back in headspace, reached up for me as I set her on the floor. I stood up to grab the supplies and I looked down to see the baby trying to crawl out the door. I set down what was in my hands and gently tickled her stomach. She squealed and fell on her back.
"Come on baby, we need to get you all dressed for your nap," I said in my no-nonsense tone.
Sam rubbed her eyes with her little fists and shook her head.
I lifted her gently and brought her to the previous spot. She seemed to have realize what's going on because she began fidgeting and chewing on her lip.
I grabbed the pacifier from the counter and ran it against her lips until she took it. She looked up at me and covered her red face with her hands. I decided to leave it be because nap time was long overdue.
"Lift up sweetie," I said with confidence even though I knew how big a deal this was.
I slid the diaper underneath her little tush and I softly rubbed her stomach when I felt her breathing pick up.
I took a deep breath and began to sprinkle the baby powder on. I put it in every area to prevent a rash. This whole ordeal is emotional enough and a crying baby because of a rash would not be very fun.
I gently rubbed in the powder and felt Sam relax under my touch. Her hands were no longer over her face and the pacifier was starting to fall out of her half open mouth.
I slowly pulled the fluffy padding between her legs and I moved the tabs, making sure it was not too tight.
I grinned at my baby girl in only a diaper and I grabbed the onesie from the counter.
I tapped her feet and waited until she looked to show her it. She smiled shyly at the pastel blue material with the phrase Mommy's Girl on it.
I brought the onesie over her head and rolled it over her tummy. I snapped the buttons at her crotch and started putting on her socks.
I couldn't get enough of my little sucking her pacifier while wearing a onesie with matching frilly socks. We've made a lot of progress.
I reached under her arms and carefully picked her up. I set the exhausted little on my hip as we walked downstairs.
