Eli's POV

I slowly opened my sleepy eyes. I fell asleep crying again. I checked the time on the digital clock on my nightstand, it was 5pm on a Friday already, I nearly slept the whole afternoon. I heard vibrating and checked my phone. It was my mother calling.

"Hello?" I said sleepily.

"Oh thank the Heavens, you're alive!" I heard my mother exclaim.

"What do you want from me, mother?" I asked, getting impatient. I wanted to sleep, I spent all night crying again, I eventually fell asleep out of exhaustion.

"No need to be cranky dear, just wanted to check if you're still moping" my mother said.

"I'm depressed mother, I have the right to mope, especially when the man I was supposed to marry left me at the altar." I said bitterly. Of all people, I would think my mother would have understood, but no.

"Nonsense. I raised a strong independent woman who can overcome obstacles like these." My mother said with a lot of pride. I guess I really was their pride and joy. Or maybe its just because I was the only heir to our family's empire.

"Go out tonight, with Damien and Dana. Go to the club, the bar, anywhere really. Just go and have fun, Elizabeth." Since my mother addressed me by my name, she must be tired of hearing me cry and ask a bunch of 'what if's'.

"I'll try, mother." I hung up after she said 'I love you'.

I took into consideration what my mother suggested. I called Damien first. It rung twice and he picked up.

"Hey, bud. How's it going?" He asked warmly. Damien was always such a big brother figure to me. He was genuinely concerned about me and was protective over me and Dana. When we would get hit on by random guys, Damien would merely give them a deadly stare and the guy would be intimidated. Damien was tall, 6'7 he was big and bulky, but not the bodybuilder bulky. Decent, intimidating, human being bulky.

"Hey D, everything's not great," I told him. "But we can all make that go away if you're free to come with me to our usual bar?" I was silently hoping Damien was free tonight to go out.

"Bud, I'm really sorry...but I can't, I have a lot of homework and tasks due, and I don't want to pull an all-nighter," Damien tried to explain. I felt kind of betrayed, but I understood how hard Med school is on him.

"How bout' ask Dana? You guys go and have a girls night. I'll make it up to you Eli, I promise." I nodded, even if he couldn't see me. "Okay, bud. You guys have fun!" He tried to stay optimistic and enthusiastic despite feeling guilty for not being able to help a friend out.

"Ok, we'll cheers to you passing your tests" I say chuckling.

"Bye, Eli. Remember to send me pictures of drunk Dana!" Damien reminded me.

"I will!" I ended the call. I called Dana next.

"Hey! Baby girl! How are you doing?" I heard Dana's happy-go-lucky voice. Dana is a very bubbly person. Always happy and when she's sad, she finds a way to make herself smile and look like she wasn't crying 2 seconds ago. If Damien is the big protective brother, Dana's the cheerful little sister. She sees the world with the eyes of a child, she's optimistic 24/7 and will be able to make you laugh or cheer you up with the snap of her fingers.

"Hey Nana! I guess I'm ok, better than last night at least." I told her. "Hey, Na, can you go out with me tonight?" I asked her, hoping she was available.

"Fuck. I'm going to feel really guilty saying this, but I have a ton of work to do and I need to organize my boss' meetings and schedules for next week. Eli I'm really sorry" she also said with a guilty voice. I frowned, none of my friends were free to hang out and have a few drinks.

"Its ok Dana," I paused. Since she was like a little sister to me, I didn't like making her feel bad for something she didn't do wrong. "Maybe next time?" I attempted. How the tables have turned, she was comforting me and now I feel bad for making her feel bad.

"Okay. How bout' go explore some new places around the city," I heard her snap her fingers, which means she had an idea "I heard there's a new bar near your office." I told you, she can cheer you up with the snap of her fingers. I agreed with her suggestion and we ended the call after saying goodbye.

I sat there on my bed for a few seconds, gathering my thoughts and waiting for my head to stop hurting. I went into my walk-in closet and picked out a pair of dark faded jeans, a dark blue shirt and a grey hoodie. I walked to the floor-to-ceiling mirror. I tied my hair into a ponytail and picked out my black Vans.

I went to my nightstand and grabbed my phone, then went to my desk and grabbed my wallet, keys and my thin framed white glasses. I was too lazy to put my contacts on today. I walked out of my master bedroom and went down the grand stairs. I bumped into my maid, Sheila.

"Madam? Where are you going?" She asked politely.

"I'm going exploring, if my parents ask where I went, tell them I went to the new bar near the office." I smiled kindly at her.

"Would you like me to ask Remmy to drive you?" Sheila asked.

"No thank you, Sheila. Tell Remmy he can go rest now. You should too, it's almost 7" I suggested.

"Will do, madam" Sheila said and let me continue to the elevator going to the garage.

When the elevator dinged, I immediately found my custom midnight blue Mercedes Benz a-class. I smiled at just the sight of it. I got in, sat on the white leather seat, put my seatbelt on and turned the engine on. The blue interior lights turned on and I revved the engine a few times and watched the headlights cast a bright beam on the dark concrete floor of the garage as the garage doors opened.

I drove out of the garage. Past the fountain with an angel on top placed in the middle of circular driveway leading to the house. Then out the gates that had an 'R' engraved into it.
