Taylor's POV (Homecoming Morning)
Today is homecoming and everyone is going nuts as usual. There's a huge pep rally every year in which the upperclass men and lower class men show their school spirit.

It really sucks that Avery can't be here. She's only allowed to go to the dance tonight, but I have to say I'm pretty excited because she's going with Ethan. Nick asked this girl Charlotte from our Drama class to go with him and I asked Ryan from the lacrosse team. Usually we all go together but since Avery has a date, I did not want to go with Nick as my date because he's a horrible dancer so I had to find one.

I approached Nick and Ethan with a smile on my face as I sat down at our lunch table. "Are you guys excited for the game tonight?"

"Yeah I'm pumped! Coach has me starting which is rare since I'm new, but I guess he really likes the way I play." Ethan said excitedly, I smile. "Oh wow that's amazing, congrats!"

"Yeah I'm pretty excited too. Especially because Charlotte is DTF so we know I'm going to have a great night." Nick said with a smirk. I look at him with a nervous look but it quickly faded once I realized that he was in a mood. Ugh what is wrong with him it's homecoming!

"So Ethan basically the plan is that all of the girls get ready at Nick's house and then we do a big entrance because Nick's mom loves to record it and put it on her blog. Also Nick, I got a sneak peak of Charlotte's dress she's going to look so hot, and Avery's dress is so elegant I can't wait for you guys to see them you're going to melt."

"Can't wait, and we are going to kill it tonight." Before Ethan could say anything else, the bell rang and I headed over to Avery's house. I don't have to be back for another half hour for the game so I have time to talk to her about Nick.

When she opened the door she had a bright smile on her face, despite the bruises from her fight with Madison. "It's game day! Are you ready?"

"Oh my gosh yes I'm so excited. I talked to the boys about it and Ethan is excited about everything, but Nick only seems to be excited at the fact that Charlotte is down to fuck after the dance."

"Good for him getting some!" She said enthusiastically, I shook my head. "I don't know, it's as if something is off with him today." She shrugged. "Sometimes people are in a bad mood. But he has to clear his head, scouts are coming to see him this game."

I nodded in agreement. "I know, I would try talking to him but I know he's going to get mad at me. Maybe if you talked to him before the game you could convince him to focus." For some reason he listens to her opinions over mine the majority of the time and as aggravating as it is, we need him to be focused for this game.

"Yeah I'll talk to him before the game. Can I ride with you down to the school?" She asks, I nod and walk into her house. "I can't wait to perform tonight, and I especially can't wait to hear the duet. It's the last song of the night, and it's going to be absolutely beautiful."

"Yes and you guys are going to share a moment and it's going to be beautiful and then you're going to fall in love, get married and have beautiful babies." I said excitedly, she rolled her eyes. "It's not like that, we're friends."

"Oh come on! You can't tell me that there isn't a spark between you two, the boy made you cookies-"

"Yes, with his little sister." I shook my head. "His sister was sick the day you got suspended which is why he wasn't in school. She didn't help him. Girl he made them for you by himself just so he could ask you to be his date for homecoming. He's so in love with you!" Avery rolls her eyes again and chuckles.

"We're just good friends. We'll see what happens tonight but I'm telling you the only action that will be happening in our friend group tonight is Nick and Charlotte. I forgot to tell you that she's meeting me so that we can watch the game together." I smile and jump a little bit out of excitement.

"Finally after four years you won't be alone watching the games anymore!" I've always felt bad because Luca, Nick, and I are on the field for games and so that left Avery alone to cheer us on. Thankfully tonight I do not have to feel bad.

"Yeah. We should get going-"

"Oh honey no not in that outfit. You are gonna look cute for your mans for this game. Turn around we're doing a closet raid." As of right now she's wearing sweatpants and a tank top which is not gonna do. I pushed her upstairs into her room where I raided her closet and picked out a pair of white shorts, a pink halter crop top, and a grey cardigan sweater.

"You look so cute! Alright let's go."

Avery's POV
When Taylor dropped me off at the school, I went to the guys locker room and called Nick and told him to meet me outside of the locker room because I needed to talk to him.

He came out in his full gear, minus the helmet. "Hey, you wanted to talk?" He questioned in a weird tone. I nodded and crossed my arms. "Taylor told me that you have been acting strange today-"

"That's ridiculous! No I haven't." He brushed off with a chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "Yes you have. First off, bragging about your sexual preferences with Charlotte is not like you at all. And second, you have a nervous tick that tells me you're lying so what is it?"

"It's nothing Avery, don't worry." He went to turn around but I stood in front of him and blocked his way, "No Nick, I have every right to worry. You're not acting like yourself and tonight is one of the biggest games in your high school career. I care about you way too much to let you throw that all away because you're in a bad mood!"

He walked up to me, looked at me straight in the eyes and said, "I couldn't tell you even if I wanted to because I respect you too much." What the fuck is that supposed to mean?!

I put my hands on his shoulders and made him look at me again. "Whatever this is, I need you to shake it off. Today is a big day for you, you have scouts coming to see you and I know how important this is for you. Promise me that you won't let it cloud your judgement okay?"

He nodded with a light smile on his face. "Fine, I promise."

"Good. Now remember, you are Dominic Grey! You're a badass football star. And you've got a hot date tonight. Charlotte will be watching the game with me so you better kick some ass tonight." I teased, he laughed.

"Will do. I'm glad you finally have someone to watch the games with. I have to get back, Coach is about to do a pep talk." I nodded, "alright, good luck. You're gonna do great, love you." I gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Love you too Ave, I'll see you after the game." He walked back into the locker room and I waited on the bleachers for Charlotte to come. I'll admit I got a little nervous as the game started and she wasn't here yet, but sometimes things happen to make you late. Then it was half time and she still hadn't shown up.

Taylor and the cheerleaders put on a really good performance and of course I cheered them on. Charlotte did not arrive until there was two minutes left on the clock.

"Where the hell have you been?" I ask Charlotte, she didn't answer, she just pointed at Nick as he got the ball.

"Grant passes off the ball to Grey. Grey weaves and blocks a pass made at him by number 43. He's almost at the end zone, will he make it?" I was feeling mixed emotions of joy and fear for Nick. Joy because I knew he was going to score the winning touchdown, but fear because deep down I know that there's a chance he could get tackled and hurt.

"AND HE DID IT! THE BULLDOGS WIN THE GAME!" We all started cheering and everyone ran into the field. Charlotte ran into Nick's arms and started kissing him.
