Avery's POV
"Relax, kids. We're not going to hurt you."
Tamara muttered hurriedly as she glanced over her shoulder for any of our family members who were certainly following us from the mines. I scoffed while they pushed us down the docks, fully aware that such an apparently reassuring sentence generally never meant anything actually good.
Greg pursed his lips at the act of countering Henry's struggles, but I only nodded encouragingly at my young brother and gestured to him through my eyes that nothing was going to happen to us. More importantly, nothing was going to happen to him because he was under my watch and I often loved to boss him around even though I was just a year older than him. Older nonetheless.
My gaze cautiously scrutinised the gun dear old Greg clutched in the hand that wasn't holding Henry captive, twitching my ears only when I heard him utter some crucial words.
"We came here to destroy magic, Henry. But then we found something more important. Something that changed everything. You two."
"The hell is that supposed to mean?!"
I shrieked, but wisely quietened myself once I winced under the effect of Tamara digging her nails deeper into the soft flesh of my skin.
"Enough resisting."
She hissed and I submitted, albeit begrudgingly.
First these guys came barging into Storybrooke right as the curse broke and we all were reunited with each other, and now they were brutally kidnapping the daughter and grandson of none other than Snow White and Prince Charming. Also, the sister and son of the saviour. And again, the children of the evil queen. I chuckled darkly as the realisation struck me and I smirked.
"You guys have no idea who you're going up against."
I murmured victoriously for I could already decipher the shrill screaming of our family trailing hot on our heels. Greg shook his head.
"And those guys have no idea who they're going up against."
He fished out one of the last remaining magical beans from his pocket and tossed it into the waters below, effectively instigating the waves to part and twirl around an enormous swirl of green. I turned back to find Emma, Mom, Dad and Mom #2 (Regina) hurtling after us with the likeliness of maniacs, but I could already sense that it was too late. The last sound of Storybrooke that I heard was Mom bellowing out my name.
My real name.
Eleanor.
That was it. I had always been just Eleanor, or Avery Mills if the cursed world was considered. Found lost and alone in the woods by the one and only Snow White, I had absolutely possessed no memories of my previous life or anything else that was linked to it. All that remained was my name. Eleanor. Hence, it was anticipated as to what Snow White would do. She took me under her wing and the two of us, together, began to evade the dark knights of the Evil Queen.
My step grandmother a year later, for I had commenced to referring to Snow White as my mother by then.
And she had been undoubtedly pleased about the prospect.
That was also the time we had first encountered David, or James as he introduced himself. I had never even imagined that he would later occupy the position of a father in my life once I saw him capture my mother in that darn big net, but I always supported her throughout all the trials and tribulations that she suffered to reunite with her Charming. It was a bit frightening for me though, when she had consumed that memory potion presented to her by Rumplestiltskin, while we were residing with the dwarves. Fortunately enough, good won in the end and the dawn of a happy ending rose high above the clouds. Regina had been defeated. Peace had been restored to the Enchanted Forest. I no longer wondered or fret about my shrouded past but learned to enjoy the present with my true family.
