Archie's POV:
Distraught? Frustrated? Angry? Conflicted? There are so many thoughts and feelings going through my mind right now, my dad is DEAD! I don't know what I should be feeling towards the driver that struck and killed him, all I know is that I need Veronica's support now more than ever.
It just so happened to be the evening after my father's death. I was up in my bedroom, alone and strumming along on my guitar and writing lyrics. I was writing a song for my dad, to play at his funeral that was happening in just a few days, on Saturday. It was at that moment that Ronnie walked into my room, my mom must have let her in.
She stood at the entrance of my room...just smiling at me playing my guitar.
"Archie?" She said
I put down my guitar on it's stand and looked over at her.
"Yes, Ronnie?"
She walked over to my bed and straddled my lap and gave me a quick peck on the lips.
"How are you holding up, Archiekins?"
As soon as she said that my eyes started to tear up and I broke down. I buried my head into Veronica's shoulder as I let loose all the tears I've been holding in since my father was killed yesterday.
"Oh Archiekins!" she said as she rubbed her smooth hand up and down my bare back.
"It's going to be alright! You are going to get through this...I am going to be here for you every step of the way, because I love you!"
I slowly pulled my head out from being buried in Ronnie's shoulder and as I looked at her I gave her a weak smile. She looked at me and reached her hand up to wipe the tears from my cheeks. I then suddenly remembered the song I had begun writing for my dad's funeral.I then said to Ronnie,
"I started writing a song for my dad."
"Aww Archie, you did?" She said.
"Yeah, I want to be able to honor him in some way at his funeral on Saturday." I said.
"Archie, I think that is such a great idea, I know how hard this is for you, especially with how close you were with your dad, but each day that goes by will get easier."
"I know Ronnie, I love you and I am so glad I have you by my side during times like this, thank you for being here for me!"
"Of course Archiekins! Now, any chance I can hear the song." she said."Well...it's not quite finished yet, Veronica."
"I still want to hear what you've written so far, finished or not, I bet it is still super special."
I smiled at Ronnie and she got off my lap and crawled up on my bed to sit with her back against my pillows. I picked my guitar back up from it's stand and got my pick. I looked over at Ronnie and I smiled at her as I started strumming.
After I finished playing the song for Ronnie, I put my guitar back down and looked over at Ronnie. She smiled at me and then said,
"Archie, that song is amazing so far! Your father would be so, and I mean so proud of you if he was here."
"I know he would be."
I said as I made my way up to lay down next to Veronica on my bed. I wrapped my arm around her and kissed her cheek and said,
"I love you, Ronnie."
"I know you do Archiekins, I love you too!"
Those were the last words spoken that night between the two young lovers as they both drifted off to sleep with small but hopeful smiles on their faces.
