[...]you weren't sure what had happened, maybe it was the stress of hunters and unknown beings present beacon hills, but something had changed within scott. things weren't the same as they used to be, he became more rigid– even when the two of you were alone. he didn't really laugh at your jokes or spend much time with you. so, to lighten the everlasting tense mood falling on his shoulders, you decided a movie night was in order.
"if you want, danny's hosting an open house tonight," lydia told you when you proposed the idea to her, earlier that day. "allison and i are going, you're welcome to come with."
"i don't know if drinking away his emotions is the right way to go about things," you told her.
stiles volunteered his house for the movie night, upon eavesdropping on your conversation with scott. you didn't argue, knowing if anyone else could help your boyfriend out, it would be his best friend.
you were headed to his house, not too far from where you lived. the only light sources came from the flickering street lamps and the crescent moon above you. it wasn't much, but it was enough for you to watch where you were going. it was intimidating, but you knew you were safe, seeing stiles' home just a few houses, down. if anything were to happen, scott would come and save you.
rubbing your hands together, you made it to the front door. you lifted your hand to knock, but stopped on account of hearing the murmur of your name through the open window. you only caught the sentence after.
"maybe it's because of everything going, but i just don't feel happy with her anymore, you know?" that was scott's voice, full of uncertainty. he was too invested in his conversation to notice the squeaky wood of the porch underneath your shifting feet.
stiles scoffed, "are you serious? y/n is, like, the best thing to ever happen to you. and what would it do to the pack? everything is going to be all tense and awkward and you guys get in fights during the meetings and then before you know it–"
"if she takes breakup out on the pack, then maybe she shouldn't be in it."
stiles deflated. "so... so that's it? you've already decided on breaking up with her?"
"no– i don't know, maybe..."
slowly, you backed off the porch, and away from the house. with every breath, you felt closer to crying, there was a weight now settling in your stomach and a phrase running through your head on repeat.
i don't make him happy.
the cold nipped at your nose, snot begging to fall over your lips before you wiped it away. you pulled out your phone, dialing lydia's number. she picked up the phone after two rings.
"hey, lyds, have you gone to danny's party yet?"
___
allison held your hand, leading you inside danny's home through the crowds of people hanging around, up until the two of you reached the kitchen. every countertop was stacked with bottles of alcohol. all empty containers were thrown in the sink, and when that got to be too much, they were set on the floor.
"what happened to watching a movie with scott and stiles?" she asked over the music. lydia was working on getting you a drink, she handed you something murky in a red, plastic cup.
