"It's not what it looks like!" Calum shrieked at the sight of his girlfriend standing in the doorway with tears running down her cheeks while he was in bed with another woman.
Oh, those infamous words. Funny thing is, when someone says it's not what it looks like it almost always is exactly what it looks like. And in this case it was.
Calum had just gotten back from a three month tour with his band and Kyleigh wanted to surprise him. Only it was he who had done the surprising.
Calum and Kyleigh had been together for two years, and even talked about getting married someday. But those dreams were shattered when she saw him having sex with what she assumed was a groupie. It wasn't even the fact that he was in bed with another woman that upset her the most, even though it sent her over the edge in anger. However, it was the fact that Calum didn't even bother to chase after her when she left. He just let her go.
It's not that he didn't want to either, he just knew it wouldn't do much use. He could try to explain to her the best he could without sounding like a complete and total ass, but no matter what he said it wouldn't erase the memory of catching him in the act.
No amount of words could ever make up for the fact that he cheated on her. He could apologize everyday for the rest of his life and it wouldn't take away the pain. So Kyleigh found other ways to let out her anger and frustrations. She brought back an old habit that soon stopped after Calum saw her scars for the first time. She hadn't done it since then, but it was different now. She could take away the mental pain all while adding physical pain. It was a win lose situation, but Kyleigh didn't care.
As time passed, Kyleigh slowly found the strength to move on, but Calum was different. He couldn't move on. He loved Kyleigh to the moon and back. She was his first love, and how could he just forget about her that easily?
They say first loves never last, but Calum wanted to prove that theory wrong. He didn't see their break up as the end, but the beginning rather. It was their chance to start over and fall in love once again. But there was one problem with that; Kyleigh had a new boyfriend. He was shorter than Calum and didn't seem very intimidating considering he wore sweaters and bow ties. But it wasn't his appearance that Kyleigh loved about him, even though he was quite the stunner. It was that he truly cared about her and did everything in his power to ensure she was happy.
He knew it would be difficult, but Calum was always up for a challenge and he was willing to do anything and everything to get the love of his life back.
