Dear Daphne- Clara C.

Lloyd held his love in his arms as she faded away.

I coughed and sputtered and my breathing hitched as my heart raced a million miles an hour. My head swam and I crumpled to my knees, falling like a broken tower, my fall caught and my body yanked as the sword was pulled from within me. Everything around me slowed, a blur covering everything in my sight. I hit the ground with a thud, the dull sound seeming to echo in my ears for minutes on end. A wailing found me before I realized it was my own. I crumpled inwards on myself, pressing a hand to the gaping hole now ripped down my middle, another arm held my shoulder, nails digging in to my skin. Metallic liquid filled my mouth, thick and warm. The blood oozed from my mouth and down my chin, dripping softly on the concrete beneath me. A pool of crimson came from me, a tide that couldn't be stopped. I was drowning in it.

Lloyd's heart plummeted down to his toes as he watched her fall slow and graceful, shred to pieces, his heart feeling the same. For some reason, he couldn't get his feet to move. Oh, how he wished this was a dream. Something he could fix. He squeezed his eyes shut before opening them again to find nothing had changed. Realization and reality soon set in and the boy stumbled, tripping over himself in a rush to get to her. She shook when he slipped his arms under her frame, cradling her head close to his chest. He shook his head, as if denial could fix this.

"Lloyd." She breathed, her chest heaving wildly with the effort the word brought. "Help me," she begged, curling into his touch.

How he wanted to help. There was usually some way for him to fix everything, someway to defeat the bad guy every time. Yet, here in this moment, there was nothing for him to do. Tears welled up in his eyes as he pulled her closer, bowing his head lower. "Look at me." He growled in determination as her eyes went glassy.

She forced her eyes upwards, meeting bright green ones. Lloyd wiped the stream of blood coming from the corner of her mouth, resting his hand against her face. "It's gonna be okay."

"Promise?" She coughed. His heart split down the middle and he shook, tears dropping faster than a pouring rain. "I promise." He whispered, something sure to be broken. Her hand found his, grip weak and limp. A last flicker of life crossed her eyes before she broke into a fit of coughs, writhing and squirming in immense pain.

"Stay with me." He said frantically, pulling her up. "Hey, look at me." He coughed and wheezed, gasping for air between sobs. "I'm right here, just look at me." Lloyd begged, his hands tightening and grabbing at her clothes. "Come on..." he whispered, thumb stroking up and down her cheek. He watched as her eyes slipped backwards into her head, slow and painful. Her body seized and shook before falling still.

"Hey, come on. Look at me, Y/n. Hey. Please, please." His words blurred together as he pressed his forehead to hers. "Wake up. Wake up." He growled, pulling at his hair. He pressed his palms into his eyes as if it could fix the pain that had erupted in his heart. "I'm right here, wake up!" Lloyd yelled, slamming his fists into the concrete beside her cold body.

"No!" He screamed, mingling among the sounds of his sobs. "No. Please don't leave me." His hands slid under the limp body, pulling it up close to him. His ear pressed to her chest, where the thrum of life had been a gentle reminder of their love so many times before was no longer present. Blood covered Lloyd, and he smeared it covering his face as he rapidly wiped away his tears. Silent sobs shook his frame, crumpled and shaken. "Please don't leave me. I can't do this without you." His hand found her's again, a cold thing in his grasp. "Please." He begged, to no avail. "I need you."

"I love you. Please wake up. Please. Y/n, please."
