I just finished the new hunger games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and it's so so so amazing! I really loved the new character Lucy Gray Baird so I decided to draw her.

One of the cool things about this book is that it has the origins of songs from the original three. For example the song The Hanging Tree and the one about the meadow (the one Katniss sings when Rue dies). I illustrated The Hanging Tree. The line I wrote is "are you are you coming to the tree" which is the beginning of every verse.

And then of course I wanted to draw her as more than a silhouette. I really liked drawing the dress and I had a million more ideas for it. (It's just described as being a ruffled rainbow dress so there's lots of room to design). In the book Lucy Gray does have a nice character ark and i think this drawing portrays her personality more at the end of the book then the beginning. That's all I'll say cause I don't want to spoil it.
