Mysterious Guy

I woke up from my deep slumber as the mid-morning sun warmed my face. I reached for the nearest blanket sloppily so I could cover myself. I was tired and sleepy last night when I freaking forgot to pull down the curtains. If Ate would know about this, she'll probably scold me.

I'm walking half asleep and went straight to the shower to do my morning rituals. I wore a simple white shirt and shorts that I usually wear when I'm home and then pulled my hair up in a ponytail. When I get satisfied, I go downstairs to eat.

Loud and hearty laughs came across my ears as I stepped downstairs. I woke up late but luckily, they're still having their brunches. I just sat down quietly next to Mom who was reading a newspaper.

"Good morning anak," Dad greeted me. He was panting heavily, the corner of his eyes crinkled as he burst out from laughter.

They greeted and nodded but they didn't give me a chance to greet them back because of Dad's storytelling, I just shrugged.

"How's your sleep Darling?"

Mom caught my attention. She placed her newspaper gracefully beside her plate and then faced me.

"Good but still sleepy," I covered my mouth when I let out a small yawn.

My head was throbbing in pain. Good thing I was able to get up and fix myself so they can't see my fragile state. This was all about last night when I cried my heart out. I used all of my powder and concealer just to get rid of my swollen and puffy eyes, it took me a while but it worked eventually.

Mom examined me intently, I can see in her almond eyes that she's worried. She even caressed my head and tucked some strands of my hair behind my ears so she can have a fuller look of my face. I gave her a sweet smile to assure her that I'm fine.

"May problema ba, Anak?" I was taken aback momentarily but I recovered swiftly.

"Wala po Mom. It's just that I slept late, that's why I'm not feeling well." I said as I looked down, trying to avoid her gaze.

She cupped my face with her hands and then moved forward. Her weight shifted as she leaned her forehead into mine. She always does this when there's something wrong with me.

"I'm all ears when it comes to you Darling, just don't forget to share your worries and everything to me. Hindi nakakaganda iyan, sige ka," She jokingly whispered.

Time flies so fast when you are really happy and surrounded by the people you love. It might sound childish but I don't want them to go home, I just want them to stay here and do something fun with me but I know that there are things in our life that aren't really meant to happen in our own will, I just need to accept that they have their own life that needs to be dealt.

I went upstairs after I escorted them to go home. I crawled onto the bed as I lay down and pulled the covers up. I immediately grabbed my phone when I remembered something. It's been ages since I texted him, for sure he'll be in shock at my sudden invitation. He replied yes and said he'll be there. I think he really had know idea what was going on or why I invited him out of the blue moon.

The alarm clock buzzed insistently, I slowly reached over so I could slap the stop button. Napabalikwas ako nang mapagtanto ko kung ano ang nangyari, dali-dali akong kumuha ng towel at tumakbo papuntang shower para maligo.

I'm staring at my reflection blankly on the mirror straight to me. I wore a white crop top and casual ripped jeans and paired it with my white shoes. I examined my bare face and combed some strands of my hair using my hand. It's just a dinner with a jerk so why would I exert an effort to dress up? He's nothing to me now.
