Eleanor sat quietly near the fire of the great hall as Loki, Ubbe, Erik and King Denver argued quietly about what had been seen.
Ubbe had raided his mother's wardrobe and found a clean dress he knew his mother would not miss and gave it to Eleanor, whom refused and was now still to change into it.
She wore her blood and rain soaked dress as she sat in front of the fire.Eleanor could not comprehend what was happening. What had happened?! Her brain was muddled and all she could do was sit and shiver under the furs near the fire. She felt numb. Life just was not fair!
"El?" Ubbe whispered beside Eleanor, his voice low as not to startle the poor girl. Eleanor did not look up from the fire place, blinking twice as she watched the flames lick the side of a wood log.
"Eleanor?" Ubbe continued making Eleanor jump before she glanced up to Ubbe before focussing her gaze back to the flames."I-I, I need to go h-home." Eleanor mumbled as she started to rise from her seat.
"W-what?! No!" Ubbe protested as Eleanor stood from the position on the floor and threw the furs down onto the ground.
"I need to clean up."
"I can do that."
"No!" Eleanor screamed making everyone in the great hall stop and look at her, even the thralls and servants stopped their chores.
"I will not sit here and feel sorry for myself!." Eleanor yelled, her voice hoarse as she shoved passed Ubbe before Erik stopped her tracks by stepping in front of her."You cannot go." Erik said, his voice holding too much worry and concern for his demeanour.
"I can feel sorry for myself when I'm married to you." Eleanor spat quietly as she stepped aside from Erik and walked out of the great hall with Loki following her calling her name.
The walk back was silent and Eleanor did not care how saturated she was from the endless pouring of rain. Loki had given up on trying to communicate to Eleanor so he walked silently as he watched her walk a couple of feet in front of himself in the rain, his arms folded in defence more so then keeping him warm.
Eleanor was crying.
As soon as she left the great hall, she started to sob uncontrollably. Walking a few feet in front of Loki so he could not hear her. She cried silently. Unnoticed by Loki. The walk felt longer then usual, maybe because Eleanor was sobbing and Loki didn't know what to do. Which was totally unlike him.
He saw death everyday, yet - this was hard to witness. Maybe because it was his loves adoptive mother? Maybe because he knew her. Or maybe because he felt a huge wave of guilt wash over himself..he did say he would kill her to take Eleanor.
The thing is, he did not kill her. Well, he thinks he didn't. Unless he did it while sleeping - sleep walking. Sleep murdering. When the pair finally got to the cottage, Eleanor opened the door slowly. Her heart was hammering and her eyes were sore from crying the entire way.
They both walked in to see the blood was cleaned up and fresh gravel had been poured onto the ground. Covering where Hilda was laying, was one of her tapestry's.Sigurd was sat silently on the floor, the tapestry beneath him, as his legs were crossed; watching the fire crackle before him.
His hands were covered with dried blood and dirt, as well as his tunic and pants.
When Eleanor went to speak his name, Sigurd turned his head to stare at the pair with hatred in his eyes."Where were you two?" Sigurd screamed, his voice harsh with anger.
Eleanor and Loki stared at him, bewildered.
"If you both were here! None of this would have happened!" Sigurd screamed again, rushing from his feet to storm over to Eleanor. Sigurd raised is hand to hit her, only making Loki push himself in front of Eleanor and grab Sigurd's arm before it connected with anyone.
"That's enough!" Loki yelled, his voice so powerful the house seemed to shake. He threw Sigurd's right arm down so violently that Sigurd nearly lost his balance.
"I-I found her, Sigurd." Eleanor muttered, her voice croaking from her emotions and screaming. Sigurd scoffed and threw his arms up in the air.
"And you didn't think to call for help?!" Sigurd yelled, making Loki step forward again.
"Get away from me!" Sigurd yelled again, moving around in a circle, hyperventilating and throwing is hands on top of his head."Maybe you should sit down and try to relax."
"Relax?!" Sigurd yelled.
"You do not get the right to say that!" Sigurd added, making Eleanor step forward."Sigurd." Eleanor stated, her voice holding authority.
"I found her, I saw her! I tried to do something, anything!" Eleanor screamed as she grabbed the front of her dress in her hands and thrusted it forward, showing the dried blood covering the front.
"I tried!" Eleanor added as tears fell from her eyes."She was gone, Sigurd. I found El and Ubbe was nearby." Loki said, his voice calm. He gently grabbed Eleanor's shoulders and squeezed them in a comforting matter.
"I am so sorry Sigurd." Loki added as he moved Eleanor to his left and tried to walk towards Sigurd."No! Fuck, no!" Sigurd screamed pushing past Loki and Eleanor. He barged past them and to the door.
"Sigurd, please don't leave me." Eleanor mumbled as she turned around to face her younger brother. Her plea was in vain and she sobbed louder as she watched Sigurd look at her; his face sickly pale and eyes bloodshot. Eleanor watched him barge through the door into the rain.
"El?" Loki asked quietly as she turned around to face him still crying violently.
Eleanor shuffled past Loki to the tapestry on the floor, she crumbled to her knees and let out a loud wail; her hands coming to hit harshly onto the tapestry, making a sound wave fly around her and hit Loki straight in the chest. Knocking him to the wall situated behind him.Eleanor was distraught. It was obvious. What Loki couldn't understand was why her powers started to show now, why her powers taunted him and pushed him to think of sinful things.
Her own abilities, her magik.
Her emotions were so strong they seeped into her veins, making her powers bubble to the surface."Eleanor, are you okay?" Loki asked, his voice coming out as a hard whisper. Arousal starting to seep into his bones as he leant against the wall, not trusting his legs to hold him up.
What impeccable timing for her abilities to show."No." Eleanor choked out her answer, hiccuping and trying to calm herself down.
"What terrifying circumstances." Eleanor muttered.
Loki swallowed the lump in his throat and hesitantly walked over to where Eleanor was situated on the floor. He knelt down and grasped Eleanor's shoulder in a hug, her back colliding with his chest."I am so terribly sorry." Loki mumbled against her hair, kissing the back of her head before moving his head to lean his right cheek on her scalp.
"I am so sorry, for everything.""It is okay Loki." Eleanor mumbled back, making Loki move his body from Eleanor's abruptly.
Impeccable timing."What did you say?" Loki asked, his voice a higher pitch then usual due to his shock. Eleanor sighed and shuffled herself around to stare at Loki, a look of guilt on her face.
"I went to the seer." Eleanor said, her voice low and stern.
"They told me the truth - well some of it." Eleanor added making guilt wash over Loki's face instead."Eleanor I-"
"I am not mad. Maybe a little upset, but it is because you never told me earlier." Eleanor interrupted, moving her hands to either side of Loki's face. Loki smiled softly at her touch and bought his left hand up to her right one on his cheek and held it tightly.
He moved her hand down slightly and kissed the palm of her hand while it still rested on his cheek."So you know? You know you're not from this realm, you know you're Hno-"
"Hnoss. I know." Eleanor agreed, tears forming in her eyes.
"You must also know I cannot go with you." Eleanor mumbled making Loki look down at his lap.
"Erik. He said he would kill Sigurd and Ubbe, if I refused him." Eleanor sobbed, moving Loki's head back up to face him.
"I cannot let him kill them, I cannot. It would kill me." Eleanor said.
Loki rested his forehead on Eleanor's as she silently cried. Her hands moved to his shoulders as Loki reached up with his own hands and wiped her tears."It will be okay." Loki whispered after what seemed like an hour went by. Eleanor was just sniffling and the pair had moved so Loki was sitting crossed legged and Eleanor was in his lap facing him with her head on his chest, Loki's right cheek on the crown of her head.
Eleanor moved her head gently to look up into his blue eyes, her own red and puffy from crying.
Eleanor cared for Loki. And in this moment of time she wished she could tell him, betrayal was not the emotion she felt for him for lying. In fact, in a twisted way she understood.
Eleanor was more happy to know her feelings were not just sudden after knowing Loki for weeks. They were feelings from somewhere deep in her earlier years, her childhood; she just needed to remember.Loki watched the young girl contently for a moment, before he gently leaned into her embrace more. Loki brushed his lips along Eleanor's and captured her into a passionate kiss. A kiss that spoke words they never could to each other.
Eleanor pulled away gently, unfortunately oxygen was needed. It didn't stop Loki though. Moving his mouth from her lips down her chin, to the underside - where her jaw met her neck. A soft hum escaping her pink lips.
The mood however, was broken when a loud and sudden knock echoed through the small cottage. Making the pair abruptly pull apart. Eleanor moved her hair to cover the small bruises Loki created on her neck and wiped her mouth as she stood from the ground, only making Loki smirk. Eleanor stumbled to the door and opened it, only making a choked squeak sound as she realised the king was standing in front of her.
