There were more than three of them in the house, Violet knew that, but no one else was around. Sick, elderly and children remained huddled together in the house, but they were together. Violet sensed the other wolf's distrust of her. They liked Cassie, and Violet could sense their concern that she was with them. However, their worry for themselves outweighed anything.

Violet, Cassie, and Zara were the only ones waiting out in the open to wait and watch. Not that there was much too watch of course. Violet could practically feel the waves of anxiety and concern radiating off Zara, but of course she couldn't actually feel them.

She let her eyes lazily shift to Cassandra Sung. The young girl was pretty and cute. Young and naïve. Wise and knowing. Sweet and lovely. She wasn't what Violet had thought she'd be. Violet remembered her vision, seeing her sprawled across the grass and frowned.

The emotions radiating off her were not too intense, there was a deep concern mainly. Normally the younger a person was the more intense their feelings. Babies were the worst of course, but young adults were sometimes more horrible. They were so uncertain, depressed and anxious that it normally made Violet just want to lie down.

Cassie was more subdued. Her emotions were reigned in, not overwhelming her and thus not overwhelming Violet. She did of course feel the waves of frustration and concern that pulsed through her. It was always painful to not be useful. Violet understood that all too well. She had a habit of ending up in places of death and pain. She was never there to help though. She had tried at first, screaming at car accidents that the person was still alive in the car. They never believed her because some people were just supposed to die.

Now adays she knew to just walk away and drown out the intense emotions which screamed at the edge of her mind.

She rubbed a hand over her face, trying in vain to also rid herself of exhaustion. She was so utterly tired. When was the last time she had slept through the night?

Violet had gotten used to a calm world, locked in an apartment, and isolated from the world. She hadn't been around this many people is years. Yet, for the last month of so it had just been constant. It was overwhelming her, she could feel the seams of her control splitting. She had long since learned that she didn't get a say in much of her life.

Violet knew she shouldn't, not when a portal to hell had literally been opened, but she found her lids slowly closing and let blackness consume her.

The blackness only lasted for a brief second.

She stood in front of a swirling mass of light. She reached out to touch it but stopped herself and realised that it wasn't to be touched. She wasn't supposed to touch.

Violet turned and found herself faced with the waves of the dead. She stared at them, barely surprised. She made her way through the masses of corpses that stretched out in the clearing. She'd been here before.

But this time she had to see something new.

It was silent, not a word to be heard. She saw no colour, only black and white. She didn't know where she was walking, but she just knew she had to. As she reached the edge of the clearing, the world rushed past she found herself in town, and let out a small breath of shock as she saw more corpses. Humans all slaughtered, even the little ones.

She turned her head and saw them run past, not seeing her. Little figures of chaos and rage, some solid in shape and some more of a mist than anything. They consumed and they killed.

Violet turned, the world rushing past as she found herself back at the portal like she'd never left it. She reached out with her hand, brushing the light just for the briefest second. She turned and saw Cassie.

She stood beside Violet, unseeing as she reached out to touch the portal, and then glancing behind her. Violet followed her gaze and understood.

Violet's eyes snapped open, a surge of energy racing through her veins to erase any lingering exhaustion. She slowly stood up and walked over to Cassie, staring out the window with her.

"Hey Zara," Violet began evenly, "I think you should go make us some tea or coffee."

Zara turned in confusion, eyebrows knotted in confusion. "What?"

Violet let her eyes shift to Cassie who looked a little startled at the noise breaking up the silent anxiety. "I'm sure you would love some tea to calm your nerves."

Cassie glanced uneasily at Violet, there eyes locking for a solid few second. Cassie slowly nodded, "That would be great Zara."

Zara frowned, before shrugging slightly. "Alright, umm how do you guys like it."

"No sugar and no milk," Violet replied immediately. "Cassie with have two sugars and milk." Cassie looked surprise at Violet knowing her order.

Zara turned, muttering under her breath, "How do you even make tea? Where do they even keep it?"

Cassie turned her gaze slowly back to Violet and let out a sigh. It was a weary sigh, a noise that Violet often heard herself making. It was a sigh of resignation and understanding.

"I have to be there, don't I?"

"Yes."

"Do you know why? Do you know what I need to do?"

Violet slowly shook her head. "Let's go."

Violet began to walk out the door but stopped, shuddering as she realised, she didn't want to do this. She remembered her promise. She'd sworn to Zara she'd keep her safe. Violet felt the pressure in her chest and her head began to throb. She was only paused for a second but a thousand eons seemed to pass before she shook her head and moved forward.

Cassie didn't fight. Instead waves of quiet understanding hit Violet, and she noted in surprise that there was no fear. The pair slowly made there way out the door, closing it silently behind them and Violet tried to ignore the screaming head in her voice.

It was like that night all those years ago. As they stepped out into the brisk air, she felt like she was breathing in the cold night air and gripping a baseball bat in hand. This was all to familiar; she was doing what she absolutely had to do.

She was taking Cassandra Sung to her destiny.
