The Last One Standing.

Chapter 1

      When girl comes of age witch is nineteen and the Alpha of a pack retires. The Alpha gives his Spot to the first born child that is a son. they hold what is called the beating.

every girl eligible that time has to participate in what they call the Beating. It is a test to see who is the strongest woman to stand at the Alpha's side. Each girl has to fight one another till the death. The last one standing is the new Luna.

I have to participate this year because the Alpha king of all packs is handing it down to his son. I have no choice I have to participate in it even though I don't really want a mate. My father was furious when he found out he stormed out of the house and didn't come back until late that night. My mother on the other hand did take it better than Father. She just was shocked and if anyone brings it up she immediately changes the subject to something else. My sister doesn't even know about it. She is eight and I don't want her to worry about it.

My Friend Kio is the only person I can talk to about this stuff because he gives good advise and dose not Storm of or changes the subject. He and I have been friends sense we were four. Though sometimes he can be a pain in the ass he is the only one is really there for me.

I heard Kio say to me " Hey Idiot, are you just going to sit on the porch in lala land. Or would you rather go on a run with me?"

I roll my eyes " I was not off in Lala land. I was just thinking."

We walked until we reached the forest. I went behind a tree and stripped and shifted into my wolf. Kio was there waiting for me.

He mind linked me " lets do the waterfall trail."

I nod and we ran threw the trees on the small dirt trail. He always ran in front of me because he is faster. He also likes to keep me safe. We have a brotherly sisterly love. It has always been that way ever sense I have known him.

We kept running he would look back a couple times to see if I was right behind him. As soon as we're by the waterfall we went behind the trees. We always leave an extra pares of clothes here it's just how it works. I quickly put on my shirt and short shorts.

I come out to see Kio in just shorts not wearing a shirt he asked me " Don't I look sexy".

I rolled my eyes and he laughed. We sat on are spot. It is a big rock that we always sit on. It is just how it is. We put are feet in the water. The water was cold and refreshing.

Kio turned to me " Sabrina the beating is in two days I want you to promise me something. You will do everything in your power to win. Your family needs you I need you."

" but I don't want a mate. I don't even know who the Alpha Kings son is".

He grabbed my hand " my brother told me that he is kinda a quite person but he treats his staff and people really well. I know you don't want a mate but I can't live without you. You can't die on me. Please just try to do everything in your power to win."

"I promise I will try my hardest" I tried to hold back my tears because my father told me that crying makes you look weak.

He gave a weak smile " I'm going to miss you Sabrina."

" I'm going to miss you two".

It was getting dark and we had to head back home. Girls in the pack have to help make dinner. Kio followed me home he gave me a hug and I hugged him back. I knew this was probably the last time I will see him. A stubborn tear slid down my cheek. Kio wiped It away.

" your going to win this Sabrina, you are the strongest Feistiest girl I have ever meet."

I gave a weak smile " thank you. Thank you for being your best friend. I love you."

He smiled " I love you Sabrina take care please." With that he left only looking back once.

I wipe my eyes and hurry inside to help my mother cook. She told me when I got in the kitchen " did you get your bag packed."

I shook my head and she hugged me " go pack, I'll take care of dinner."

I nod and hurry towards my room. I knew I just had to pack some clothes that is it. The beating gose on for a week or a week and a half. I sighed as I grabbed my back pack and stuffed some clothes in there. Tomorrow I have to wake up early and drive over there in a car that one of the Alpha King's guards drive.

As soon as I was done I looked into the mirror at my reflection. My mom said I was very lucky to have dark brown hair and sparkling blue eyes with freckles. She says I look like her sister.

I sighed and put my backpack down by the door. I went to the kitchen to find my mom putting the roast on the table. My sister Ella was already sitting at the table sticking her tongue out. She dose that when ever she is hungry. Even though she is eight she still dose that for some reason.

I sat down right by her and she smiled at me " did you have a good day".

" yes what about you Happy feet"? When she was a baby when a song came on she always started to make her feet move and smile. So I called her that nickname ever since.

" yes dad let me go with my friends outside. We climbed trees. I did cut my knee but I got it cleaned up and it doesn't hurt much anymore."

Mother sat down on the other side of the table with father. He looked really tired and warn out. He is a guard for this pack witch is an exhausting job to do because your in the heat all day watching for Rouges and making sure no one passes the territory.

We all dogged into are food. Everyone was quite. This is usually how my family is. When we eat we don't talk much.

Father asked " did you get your bag packed Sabrina?"

I nod and Ella asked " wait we're is Sabrina going am I going too".

Mom looked at her plate " no sweet heart you can't go. She had to go a way for a while. There is something she has to do".

Ella face scrunched up " when will she be back".

I answered " hopefully in a week or so".

My father took a deep breath his eyes started to water. My dad never cry's because he says it makes you look weak.

Mom said to Ella " how about you go up to your room and get ready for bed okay".

She nodded and hugged everyone before she left. That might be the last hug and time I see my sister.

Mother said trying not to cry " I.. I love you Sabrina. I wish I could do something about this stupid tradition."

I forced a smile " I know, I am going to do everything in my power to stay alive and win for you guys".

Father stood up " come here".

I went over to him and he gave me a very long hug. It felt nice. My mother did the same as soon as he let go. Tears were in all are eyes.

Father eyes turned a darker blue than back to light blue " I have to go back on patrol." He kissed me on the forehead and kissed Mother on the lips before he headed out.

After I was done helping mom with cleaning the kitchen I went to my room. I took a long sweet bath. I grabbed some clothes I was going to wear tomorrow. A white shirt with a denim jacket and black leggings.

I laid down in bed trying not to cry but I ended up crying my self to sleep that night. All I can do is hope that I can win for my family.
