Janus rolled his eyes as Draco and Blaise vented about their daddy issues. At least they had dads. Okay, to be fair he hadn't told them that he didn't have a dad, or mum, but still!
Janus felt bad a lot of times for lying to them about his home life. As far as they knew Janus was living the high life. He supposedly lived in a gigantic mansion, with two loving parents, and anything else he could possibly want. In reality, both of Janus's parents had died during the fight against Voldemort. Janus was only a few months old then. After they died he was put into the care of his Godparents, Frank and Alice Longbottom. They had him for about a month, but then they lost their minds after being captured by the death eaters and crucioed several times in a row. At this point he was supposed to be adopted by Frank Longbottom's grandmother along with his Godbrother, Neville. However she stated that she was to old to take care of both of the infants and decided to keep Neville as he was her flesh and blood. She put Janus in a boys home with hopes that he would find two new parents, who loved him just as much as his real ones did.
Of course, the Janus we know now doesn't remember any of that. All he can remember is being tossed from one new house to the next. Each home worst then the next. Through all of the tossing around, he met Blaise Zabinni who introduced him to Draco Malfoy and Roman Royal. It was going to each of their houses and meeting their families that convinced him to runaway from the boys home.
While he was running he stumbled along an old house, hidden in between two muggle apartments.
He pick locked the door to this house and walked inside. He wasn't expecting to find anyone there but he was wrong. As soon as he shut the door to the house he heard a women's voice screaming, "Mudblood-loving, family-disgracing, blood-traiting, hooligan! You are not my son, you will never be my son!" Janus looked around for the lady and found none other than a portrait hollering in rage. Janus had seen moving and talking portraits before, as they were a pretty common sight at his job, but he had never had to calm one down before.
"Um, excuse me miss?" He said shyly. She continued to scream, so he said it a bit louder, "Miss?!"She stopped her yelling and looked around, "Who's there, who is it?!" "Down here, miss!" Janus said. The portrait shifted her gaze to the young boy. "Who are you?" She asked. "My name is Janus, what's yours?" "Walburga Black, pleasure to make your acquaintance."
From that day on, Walburga was his new mom. She taught him about blood-traitors, mudbloods, and blood purity. Janus's beliefs would've made his mother faint.
"Oi bowtie! You alright? You look pissed." Draco said, snapping Janus back into reality. "Oh yeah I'm fine," he answered. "Okay," Blaise said skeptically. "Ay you guys it's Roman!" Draco said, waving his best friend over. Janus and Blaise looked at each other and sighed. Draco and Roman, it was going to be a long afternoon.
