Bailey's POV

I wake up with the excitement to play as the new and improved hockey team, the ducks. I get ready putting on a gray sweater, with white and brown boots(outfit above) and run downstairs. I go the kitchen to find a note from both Michael and mother.

Hi hun,

I am out with a friend I won't be back for awhile, have fun at your game!

xoxo, mom

I am not surprised anymore, mom has been out a lot I don't mind because Charlie's mom is always at our games.

Hey lil sis,

I'm going to work and then I'm going to have some friends over when you get back from your game, I'll pick you up tho.

Michael

I am not surprised that my older brother won't be making it to my game either I'm used to it by now. I go to the fridge grab some waffles and heat it up, I get a text from Connie,

Connie💞

Hey Bailey, can I come over?

                                                        Bailey🌤

                                            sure, but why?

Connie💞

My dad is out again and my baby sister is with her babysitter.

                                                         Bailey🌤

                             okey, come whenever.

Right as I sent that text I get a doorbell, I open the door to see Connie with her hockey bag.

"Hey Connie, how'd you get here so quick?"

"Well, technically I sent the first text while walking to your house."

"Omg Connie."

"I knew you were going to let me come over so why wait."

I laugh. Connie puts her stuff next to the door and we walk back into the kitchen. I finish up my pancakes. Connie is on her phone texting someone, probably Guy so I'm not going to bother to ask.

"Soooo..." I ask with enthusiasm. Connie looks at me with a look that speaks, 'I know what you want me to say.'

"Well, Guy and I are going on a date after todays game."

We squeal, it took us awhile to calm down.

"I bet you and Guy are going to date."

"I hope so! Oh, and what about you and Ad-"

I cut Connie off checking the time, "Connie let's go! We're gonna be late!"

We grab our hockey bags and zoom off.

~at the rink~

Connie and I enter the rink, she walks over to the rest of the team while I walk towards Jesse and Peter.

"Hey guys whats-" They shush me.

"Shhh! Listen" Jesse says.

"Pay close attention." Peter says.

We peak around the corner. Coach Bombay was talking to Coach Riley.

"Look you got a whole team full of Banks, one kid isn't gonna make a difference." Bombay says.

"Even with Banks! What do you think you're gonna prove with, with you and those bunch of losers!" Riley responds.

"Oh that's right coach! They are losers, and we hate losers don't we? They don't even deserve to live."

Jesse and Peter exchange looks of disappointment and walk away. I look at both of them hoping they didn't believe him.

"Lets go guys." Peter says. We walk to the locker room. I can't believe this, Peter and Jesse think he's being for real! I know Bombay was being sarcastic, I know it!

~in the locker room~

Jesse and Peter were the only kids not getting ready for warm-ups. I walk up to them.

"Come on guys! He was being sarcastic! I know it, believe me. He changed!" I tried explaining but they wouldn't listen.

"Forget it Bailey you heard what he said." Peter said. They wouldn't budge. Bombay walks into the locker room. He turns to Jesse and Peter.

"Hey why aren't you guys in uniform? In half an hour we got warm-ups" he pauses then turns to the rest of the team, "everyone listen up! we're getting a new player..Adam Banks." No way! Adam is playing for us now?!

"What?!"

"No way!"

"Come on!"

"He's a hawk!" Karp said with disgust.

"He's a good player" Coach replied.

"Ew." Real mature Karp.

"I mean having a new player isn't so bad after all is it?" I say..blushing.

"Everybody hates him." My attention turns to Jesse, I squint my eyes at him.

"Yeah we don't need him." I turn to Connie and I nudge her, "Connie! It's Adam...the Adam I talk about." Her eyes widen.

"Look, I'm coach and I say we need him." Bombay was right, he does have the right to decide. "If we make it to the playoffs-" Bombay was cut off. "If we make it to the playoffs? All of a sudden you don't think we're good enough?" Karp said, hurt.

"No, he thinks we're losers." I look at Peter. Don't do it Peter, don't you dare! "That's what he told Riley." Come on Peter! Great job now you got the whole team upset.

"What?" Coach was confused.

"We heard what you said! You said we were losers! That we don't deserve to live!" Peter calm down! I couldn't speak up, nobody would even listen to me, not Connie, at least not in this situation.

"That's not what I meant."

"We saw that picture of you, missing that goal. You were a hawk weren't you? Guess you stick together till the end, I don't need your stinking equipment, see you around." Peter drops his stuff and walks out the door.

"Peter come back here! I'm talking to you!"

Jesse jumps into the situation, "We get it cake-eater. You wanna play, play with yourself. Let's go Terry." The brothers walk out the locker room.

"Alright. I'm going to the bench, anybody who wants to join me can join me, and if you don't-" I couldn't comprehend what he said after, he walked out. Everyone except for myself, was getting out their hockey gear. "Come on Connie! He didn't mean it, he was being sarcastic." I tried reasoning. "Sorry Bailey." I go up to Charlie and Fulton, "You guys believe me right? That he was being sarcastic?" They both nod. Everyone leaves, the two boys and I go out onto the rink.

We didn't have enough players...we forfeited.
