Chapter 7:Burnywood

I felt someone  squeezing my hand as I woke up and I squeezed their hand weakly.
Then I realised I was in someone's arms as I felt them shuffle away from me slightly.
"Chloe?" A familiar voice called and I said the first name that came to mind, the name I hoped was there and that I wasn't dead.
"Liam?" I croaked and his grasp got tighter and he said "Yes, it's me clo" and I opened my eyes to see Liam looking at me smiling in relief.
"Liam" I sighed and he stroked my head as I started to make sense of the world and I sat up slowly. "Where am I?"
I was in the living room and Sapphire was sat  next to me and the others were stood in the door way, "You passed out, you've been unconscious for about an hour. You had a shock"
Mike said as he approached me and gave me a glass of water, then I remembered.
"Lily?! is she okay?" I started to panic again and Liam rocked me and wrapped his arms around me to calm me down again, "She's in hospital, Gina went with her she'll be okay" Mike said.
"Are we still open mike?" I said and he gave me a sad look then Sapphire placed her hand on mine and said "It didn't work Chloe, were going to Burnywood because of Lily" She wasn't happy with Lily and I wasn't in the mood to argue with her and I turned to Liam who whispered to me, "it's not over yet Chloe, once you get sorted we're all going down to the basement and staying there until they agree to keep us open" I knew Liam had a plan and I smiled at him as I took a sip of water.
I was beginning to feel better and I was no longer feeling like I was floating or dizzy.
I was warm in Liam's arms and I rested my head on his chest wanting to stay there for as long as I could but we had a home to keep open and I started to get out of Liam's grip.
"Are you sure your alright now clo?" He said and he helped me up from the sofa. "I'm fine Liam, let's go" and as I got up I saw Carmen.
She looked like someone had zapped the light out of her, she wasn't the bubbly Carmen she was this morning.
She was drained and Tee held her as if she was going to fall over, I walked up to them and Tee let go of Carmen and I held Carmen in my arms and said "I'm so sorry Carmen I tried to get her down" I felt the tears fill up in my eyes and Carmen cried into my blue shirt and looked up at me.
"It's not your fault Chloe, you tried helping her" She said as she broke away from my hug.
And I patted her head then I walked over to Harry who clung onto my waist and I crouched down to his level and I kissed his head.
"Jeff's scared" He said and I stroked his head and said "Jeff doesn't need to be scared, me and Liam are going to try and keep this place open but for now I have something for Jeff" I said and Harry smiled at me as I pretended to hold out a badge.
"This is a badge, but it's not any old badge it's a special badge a badge of bravery and if Jeff puts it on he won't need to be scared he will feel brave" And I pretended to put the badge on Jeff's chest and Harry's blue eyes lit up as he pulled me into another hug then he pulled away and said "Jeff feels brave now" and I smiled at him.
Sapphire half smiled and said "Thanks Chloe" and then went up to her room with Harry in tow. I wiped my tears and said "Let's get this show on the road" And we all went down to the basement when Mike and this random woman who was probably the one who was shutting us down, went into the office. As we all got in I shut the door and Liam grabbed some chairs and pressed them up against the door and Johnny looked unsure and he said, "Are you sure it's gonna work?" And I replied "Have you got a better idea Johnny?" And he shook his head and Liam said "Well shut up then" and I folded my arms and looked at him as if to say "Really Liam?" And I said "Liam, save the attitude" and I announced to everyone, "We are not leaving until they agree to keep this place open" and everyone cheered in agreement.
"Liam?" I asked as I stood beside him and he said "Yeah?" And I sighed as I asked "Promise me if they do send us there, that you'll stick with me" I said and he ran his knuckle on my cheek and smiled "I promise" and then Mike knocked on the door, "Liam?" And then it began the final act, the last chance to fight.
"Open this door" The woman said and I replied "Are you keeping Elm Tree open?!" And Liam smiled at me as I got myself back together and Mike replied "You know that's not going to happen Chloe" and Liam said "Well go find someone who can!" And everyone cheered.
Then five minutes later mike banged on the door, "Chloe, Liam come on!".
"We're not coming out until your lady friend agrees to keep us open!" That made everyone laugh but Mike wasn't laughing at my jokes this time, "Chloe this isn't the time for jokes" and I rolled my eyes. "Five more minutes and I will call the police!" The woman said and I shouted back "Ring them! Go ahead!" And Liam touched my arm before I went too far, and said "Chloe, we don't want to spend tonight in a cell" and he was right but I couldn't contain the adrenaline and the will I had to fight. "Don't make this harder than it already is" Mike said and then I heard the woman say "Police please" and now it was going to kick off I thought to myself. Then I heard Sapphire say "There will be no need for that" then she knocked on the door. "Liam?, Chloe?" And I looked at Liam then looked at the door.
"Open the door it's me" she said and Liam hesitated a little then said "No tricks?" And I said "Let her in Liam" and Sapphire said "It's me" and then Liam let her in the door.
"We can't win this one" she said and I said "We can try Sapph" and she carried on as Liam paced the floor, "Chloe, their gonna shut us down no matter what we do and we can either go out of here kicking and screaming" and Liam cut her off mid sentence, "They'll be the ones doing the screaming" and I pulled him back and said "Let her talk Liam, go on Sapphire" and she continued "Or we can go out here with a bit of dignity, with our heads held high because I don't know about you but I wanna show them that they don't own me even though they think they do" and that sealed it for me and I said "Come on guys, we've tried our best but it's time to surrender" I said and I was first to walk to the door and I opened it and grabbed my rucksack then walked out the door. And Martha was at the door waiting to take me to Burnywood, "Looks like you've had a day of it eh?" She said as I opened the boot of her car and I said "Let's go" and I looked behind me to see if Liam came out but I didn't see him and I walked over to Sapphire, "Where's Liam?" And she sighed.
"He's gone Chloe" and I felt my heart drop to my feet and I said "Gone? What do you mean gone?" And it dawned on me and I began to run then Sapphire tugged me back, "He said he's sorry and for you not to go after him" I knew I couldn't run now because Martha and Mike will stop me and so will Sapphire.
I felt like crying as he promised me he'll stay with me but I knew he'd run but I hoped he'd keep his word like he always does but Burnywood must of been that bad for Liam to do that. I got in the car and grabbed my phone and tried ringing him, and he didn't answer.
"You promised me Liam, and now you've run away, well I hope your happy" I said fighting the tears and I hung up and stuck my earphones in and played a random song and the song Liam liked came on "Live Forever" By oasis and it was the only song we both equally liked. And the tears rolled down my cheek as I turned it up and thought of Liam and the impending doom of Burnywood.
