Third POV:
It was around 10:00 pm and of course, Scott decided now would be the perfect time to blast music throughout the small house. She didn't know how their Mom put up with him sometimes. She attempted to drown out the noise, shoving a pillow over her head, but, to no avail, it didn't work. In a huff, she pushed her covers to one side of her queen bed pulling on a jumper due to the cold air. Scott's room was directly opposite hers. Reaching her destination quickly she silently opened the door. Scott was sat fixing the net on his lacrosse stick, the first day of school, and tryouts being tomorrow. She knocked on the wall drawing Scott's attention.
"Hey, could you turn the music off. Or at least down, some of us are trying to sleep," She spoke a sternness to her voice. Scott placed the lacrosse stick on his bed moving towards his speaker.
"Sorry, I didn't think it was that loud," He turned the speaker down to a lower volume. "Better?"
"Better," Scott continued on with his nightly routine while his twin, Skyler, stayed put in the doorway. "So you think you're gonna make the first line this year?" She asked.
"I don't know, maybe," He just shrugged, washing his face with water and water only. He stopped his motions when there was a loud creak coming from outside the house. Looking towards her he asked, "Did you hear that?" She nodded in response. Following him out to the front porch. Scott had grabbed a baseball bat on his way out assuming the worst. Skyler followed anxiously.
They were nearing the edge of the house when they heard rustling on the roof. Scott gripped the bat tighter readying himself to attack whatever was above them. Then the thing hung over the edge of the roof causing Scott to raise the bat ready to hit, Skyler, Scott, and the thing screaming. The thing was Stiles, Scott's best friend, and Skyler's long time crush.
"Stiles, what the hell are you doing?" Scott yelled.
"You weren't answering your phone." He explained. "Why do you have a bat?" He questioned.
"We thought you were a predator," He replied.
"You thought he was a predator," Skyler corrected.
"A pre..." Stiles started before interrupting himself with a cough, probably due to him being upside down. "Look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this," He began. "I saw my dad leave 20 minutes ago. Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even state police." He continued.
"For what?" Skyler asked egging Stiles on.
"Two joggers found a body in the woods," Stiles responded before jumping down from the roof.
"A dead body?" Scott asked, dumbly.
"No, a body of water... Yes, dumb-ass a dead body," Stiles said sarcastic as ever, earning a small giggle from Skyler.
"You mean like, murdered?" Scott asked, full of questions.
"Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her 20s." Stiles explained.
"Hold on if they found the body, then what are they looking for?" Skyler questioned. Stiles' eyes lit up at the question. Obviously liking the answer.
"That's the best part. They only found half." Stiles paused for a second before continuing. "We're going," And with that, the trio went inside so Skyler and Scott could put proper clothes on (Skyler's pictured at beginning of part). The trio left in Stiles' jeep, heading towards the Beacon Hills Preserve, not adhering to the 'No entry after dark' warning. Stiles was clearly excited by his inability to steady his left leg which he was tapping. Scott would've rathered stay home but for the sake of his best friend, he agreed to go. Skyler enjoyed doing 'scary' things like this, she's always had an interest in detective work and has been pressing Stiles' dad, who is the Sheriff, to let her intern at the station.
"We're seriously doing this?" Scott asked still wary of the severity of the situation.
"You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." Stiles retaliated, earning a sound of agreeance from Skyler.
"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow," Scott explained.
"Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort," Stiles sarcastically spoke.
"No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making the first line," Scott spoke optimistically.
"Hey, that's the spirit. Everybody should dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one," Stiles replied, keeping up the usual Stiles and Scott buddy combo conversations.
"Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?" Skyler spoke up, asking a valid question.
"Huh! I didn't even think about that." Stiles responded laughing slightly at his own dumbness.
"And, uh, what if whoever killed the body is still out here hmm?" She continued raising an eyebrow at Stiles.
"Also something I didn't think about," She just rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small smile that pulled at her lips.
"It's comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail," Scott said as the trio reached a small hill meaning they'd have to climb it. Stiles climbed up fairly okay having some physical abilities from lacrosse practice. Skyler climbed up with ease, her dancing, and combat training coming in handy. Meanwhile, Scott struggled due to his asthma flaring up.
"I know," Stiles replied once they reached the top.
"Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" Scott stated, wheezing. He pulled out his puffer, shaking it before taking two puffs from it trying to control his breathing. The trio continued on for a little longer before they noticed flashlights coming from the other direction. They ducked down to the floor to avoid getting noticed immediately. Stiles quickly changing his mind about staying hidden.
"Hey, come on!" He half yelled, running off.
"Stiles!" The McCall twins yelled in unison.
"Wait up!" Scott called out.
"Stiles!" Skyler yelled after the boy. Stiles had the flashlight so it was quite dark for the twins. They desperately chased after him. "Stiles!" She tried once again. Skyler had managed to catch up to Stiles, regretting it as a loud dog bark came from behind them, the two turned around to be met with a flashlight to the face. Scott had ducked behind a tree.
"Hold it right there!" The officer yelled at them.
"Hang on, hang on. This little delinquent belongs to me, and I know her," The Sheriff, Noah Stilinski, spoke approaching the two.
"Dad, how are you doing?" Stiles spoke in a quick manner avoiding eye contact, as Skyler just stood awkwardly next to him.
"So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?" Sheriff Stilinski pressed.
"No. Well, not the boring ones," Stiles responded his usual sarcasm present. The answer earning a small smile from Skyler.
"Skyler's not your usual partner in crime, now where is he?" She tensed at the mention of her name.
"Who, Scott? Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for the first day back at school tomorrow. It's just us, in the woods. Alone." Stiles replied gesturing to the duo that was present.
"Scott, you out there!?" The Sheriff proceeded to yell anyway. "Scott?" No response. He sighed lowering his flashlight. "Well, you two, I'm gonna walk you back to Stiles' jeep. And Stiles and I are gonna have a conversation about something called an invasion of privacy," Stiles' dad grabbed Stiles by the shoulder pulling him along, out of instinct Stiles grabbed Skyler by the hand causing her to blush.
Scott was now alone in the woods, with no flashlight, and no way home besides walking.
What could go wrong? Right?-----------------------------------------
