I am walking down the street, hurrying to get my daughter, Ruby, to school.
"Mommy! Mom! Stop running!" she begs.
"Ruby, sweetheart, we need to get you to school!" I tell her. "I also need to get to work!"
We finally reach the neighborhood her school is in. I drop her off, and hurry towards the city.
The sidewalk is busy. I run to the bus stop and look down. When I look back up, I see a girl with long, black hair waving at me. I run up to her and kiss her.
"Aaralyn!" I squeeze her tight.
"Parker, now, actually...new identity. Part of being the water."
"Parker, Aaralyn...it doesn't matter. I still love you."
She kisses me again.
"Parker, do me a favor?" I ask.
"Yeah?" she says.
"Never leave me again."
"Oh, I won't. I've been waiting for this day. Dinner tonight? Bring Ruby."
She walks off. I hop on the bus, wondering what Parker has planned.
After a very, very, long day at work, I walk to Ruby's school to pick her up.
"Sweetie, we are going out to dinner tonight. You get to wear your fancy dress!" I tell her.
"Yay!" she skips ahead of me.
We get to our house and I give Ruby a sparkly purple dress. She runs to her room to get dressed. I put on a black suit. We get a cab and head to the restaurant.
When we arrive, Parker is waiting outside in a gorgeous blue dress. We walk over to her.
"Mommy, who is that?" Ruby questions, brow furrowed.
"Can I talk to you in private, Varya?" Parker asks.
"Yeah! Go inside, Ruby. Wait on that bench right there," I turn to her and point to one of the three benches inside the restaurant.
When I turn back around, Parker is down on one knee, a beautiful ring in her hand.
"Parker..."
"Varya Mae Golberg, will you marry me?"
I nod frantically. She pulls me in and kisses me.
We walk inside, and once again, Ruby asks who she is.
"Ruby, sweetie, this is your other mommy. Parker is going to be my wife."
We sit at down at our table.
"So, how did you two meet?" Ruby asks, curiosity in her eyes.
"Well, Parker and I have know each other for a long time. It all started at Ruby Beach..."
