"Luke has been taken off of your case." He spoke slowlyI could feel my heart beating.
"Which means?"
"Luke will now see other patients." He continued.
I stared to him.
"W-why?"
Calum.
I could see the hurt on her face.
So I decided to blame myself.
I didn't want her to hate Luke, if she had to hate anyone over this, it should be me
"I thought it was best. Luke was too involved in your case, it was affecting him mentally and physically. He was too attached and you're too attached to him. I spoke to our boss about it and he had also had individuals bring it up to him, several people think that this is the right decision-" "it isn't." Her voice cracked.
"I know it doesn't feel like the right decision, but it will." I told her calmly.
"Your uncle will be here tomorrow-" "I don't even know what he looks like- you think he's just going to replace Luke?" She almost yelled to me.
"No, I don't think he will." I told her.
"But I think you have to at least give it a shot. You have to try and connect with your family." I told her firmly.
She shook her head.
"I want to talk to Luke" she spoke.
"Luke is prepping for a surgery- he can come see you during visitors hours." I told her.
She stared to me.
"Anymore questions?" I asked her slowly.
"How do I get a different doctor?" I had never heard her voice actually sound angry and hurt at the same time.
So many emotions in one little body.
"Who would you prefer as a doctor-" "Luke." She spoke as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
"I am your doctor now." I told her slowly.
"You can request to speak to my boss and if he sees it fit that I don't need to be on your case- he can pull me and assign someone else." I told her simply.
She looked so hurt.
But she didn't say a word.
"How about we get you back in bed and get some breakfast?" I asked her slowly.
She didn't look at me.
"Alexis- I know you're not happy about having me as a doctor, but I am not going to hurt you. You should trust me just as much as you trust Luke." I told her slowly.
"Apparently I should've never trusted Luke." I watched a tear fall down her cheek.
She felt betrayed.
"Alexis, you can't blame this on Luke" I told her calmly.
"This was other people's opinions, our boss felt as if it was necessary to enhance Luke's career and get you back with your family." I told her slowly.
"I want to go back" she cried, touching her forehead to her knees.
"To what?" I asked her calmly.
"To the fucking sex trafficking house!" She yelled to me, which I didn't expect.
"Alexis- you should be happy that you aren't there- I know you're not happy at the moment, but there are good things to come." I told her slowly.
"I just want Kara- I want to go back to normal. I don't like it here- I don't want to be here. I knew all the guys there- I knew who would hurt me and who wouldn't, I don't know anything about anyone here- send me back!" She was almost full blown sobbing.
She would rather be in a house that she got raped in almost everyday rather than be here, because she didn't know anyone.
I tried to understand it from her point of view.
She was scared and she had no idea who to trust.
But we had to get her better- we had to get her to her family.
"No one here will hurt you, I'll be sure of it." I told her calmly.
"So please, come get in bed, I'll take your IV out and get you some breakfast." I spoke to her slowly.
"Back up" she told me firmly.
I backed away from her.
I watched her stand, and she moved straight to her bed.
She looked away from me as I took out her IV.
"I'll be right back with food" I told her
I ran back to her room with breakfast, noticing- the door was not open like I had left it.
I opened it- hearing it collide with yet another chair.
I continued to push it until I was able to enter the room, where she was laying on her side, staring to the door.
"Just me." I told her slowly.
She didn't seem any bit relieved.
"What time is visiting hours?" She asked me as I set all of her food out on a portable table.
"From eleven to two." I told her, seeing her glance to the clock.
"Okay Alexis, this is breakfast- try to eat as much as you can. I'll be back in about fourth minutes." I told her.
She slowly nodded, not looking to me.
"Push the nurses button if you need anything." I told her.
No response, so I left her.
As soon as I walked out of her room, I saw Luke leaning against the wall across from her room.
"Keep walking" I told him, grabbing his arm and leading him away from her room.
Because if she saw him- this was all for nothing.
"How did she react- is she mad at me?" He asked quickly.
"I blamed it all on me, so she hates my guts." I told him.
"That's not going help you when it comes to treating her!" He yelled to me.
"I've got this." I told him calmly.
"she needs tough love to understand that the pain she is in right now is not forever." I told him slowly.
Luke laughed
"She's been receiving tough love her whole fucking life."
