A couple months went by and you got rather lonely on Kildare Island. John B and Sarah were still missing from when they took the Phantom into the storm. You barely spoke to JJ and Pope but you and Kie tried to keep your friendship together.
You had just visited Kiara before your shift at the country club started. You asked her how the boys were coping but you guessed that everyone was in the same boat; hoping to hear from John B and Sarah, not thinking that they died.
"Hey y/n, how you going?" Amy, your co-worker asked you as you clocked in.
"Same as always I guess, but I have a strange feeling about today." You admitted.
"Well, hopefully it's a good strange feeling." She gave you a warm smile before delivering drinks to the customers.
You bent down to the bottom cupboard to fetch some things you needed for your shift but when you heard that familiar voice, you couldn't help but wonder.
"Excuse me." The voice said.
You furrowed you're eyebrows and as you were standing up, you hit your head on the counter top.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" The voice asked.
You looked up, rubbing your hand on the injury and saw Rafe Cameron staring back at you. He wasn't wearing his usual kook outfit and if you didn't recognise him by his voice, you wouldn't have recognised him at all.
"Rafe? You're back?" You were stunned.
"Yeah and to be honest, I'm feeling amazing." He grinned.
What the heck was going on?
"Um, that's great? So you went to rehab and now you're back?" You repeated, unsure that he was really there.
"Yes. I learnt so much and I've completely changed. I'm not drinking or doing drugs anymore." He explained.
"Wow, isn't that something." Your eyes went wide.
"Yeah, I know right? So I was wondering if we could talk, after your shift?" Rafe asked you.
"Um, sure." You shrugged, not really knowing why you agreed to this.
"Great. Well, I'm gonna be hanging around here; so here's my number and text me when you've finished." He slipped you a piece of paper with his phone number on it.
"Sure." You nodded slowly.
"Good luck, I hope you get lots of customers." Rafe smiles before walking away.
You smacked your forehead and pinched yourself to make sure you weren't dreaming. And funnily enough, you weren't.
Once your shift had finished, you hesitated to text Rafe. You felt the world had gone upside down or something. Texting Rafe, you never thought you would do such a thing. But you sighed as you sent him your "Just finished work" text.
You changed into the clothes you had previously worn before your shift and grabbed your bag. You stood outside the country club and saw Rafe was leaning against the front gate. You slowly approached him, not really knowing what he wanted to talk to you about.
"Um, hey?" You caught his attention.
He looked up from his phone and smiled at you.
"Hey. I know some place where we can go." Rafe replied.
"Okay?" Of course you were confused, Rafe was being nice. The opposite of what he was at the beginning of the year.
"It's okay. We're just going a park." He assured.
A park? You thought.
You had never seen any kind of parks or playgrounds around Figure Eight before. But when you and Rafe arrived at the park, you couldn't believe your eyes. There was a pond full of ducks, a small playground full of children and a green field where older kids were playing sports.
"Here." Rafe sat down on a pre-prepared picnic blanket.
"Is this like a date or something?" You asked.
"Oh, no. I just thought it would be a nice change in scenery." He responded and you nodded taking a seat.
"So, what did you wanna talk about?" You asked him awkwardly.
"I wanted to know if you thought about what I said to you...in the hospital...before I left." He began.
In truth, you did a lot of thinking about what he said. It was a weird feeling knowing your enemy liked you. You didn't really know how to act or think.
"Uh, yeah. I did a lot of thinking and I think that before I date somebody I would like to be friends with them first. I don't have any desire to jump into a relationship right now or with someone who I hardly know anything about." You explained.
Rafe nodded. "Yeah, I understand that."
Whoa. He took that better than I thought.
"So tell me, what is your favourite colour?" He asked.
"What?!" You spat out some water your we're drinking.
"Your favourite colour, what is it?" He repeated, ignoring that you spat out water.
"It's (your favourite colour). What's yours?" You asked, not really interested.
"Red. But I also like blue." He smiled to himself.
The rest of the afternoon was weird. You and Rafe talked about all sorts of things and you actually had a good time. Right now, Rafe was walking with you to the cut because you had to get home.
"This was fun." He said as we stopped in front of your house.
"Yeah. I enjoyed myself." You said honestly.
"I'm glad. We should hang out again, sometime." Rafe suggested.
"Yeah, maybe." You shrugged.
"Well, enjoy the rest of your evening y/n." He smiled at you.
"Thanks, enjoy yours too."
As you went to walk up to your house, Rafe called out your name.
"Yeah?" You looked back, wondering what he had to say.
"I'm really sorry about John B and my sister. I hope we hear from them soon." He responded.
"Thanks, Rafe."
It was nice to know that he actually cared about his sister. You turned back to your house and you took another step before Rafe stopped you again. This time he kissed your cheek.
"What was that for?" You asked.
"I dunno. I just like being around you." He gushed.
You gave him a warm smile. "Me too. Goodnight, Rafe."
You headed inside as Rafe said goodnight to you. Your mind was running wildly with all these strange thoughts about the new Rafe. You actually kinda liked being around him.
