After the battle between the Kingdoms, and each teen went their separate ways, it was Morpheus who seemed to have the greatest change of heart. Since he was the one who slayed Queen Percell, he had a massive target on his back for each time a battle rose. Under the helpful training of Kallima, he was able to fight through each battle.
But, ever since he was appointed to such a high honor and position, he couldn't help but feel as though he was starting to grow attached to her. He enjoyed fighting alongside this women, and everything else about her. Not only id he fall for her 'hard work always pays off' attitude, but he also fell for her looks and her brains. She was smart, dedicated, and had a sense of humor. Each time she would set out on a scouting mission, she never hesitated to choose him as her partner.
Morpheus couldn't help but admit that he had fallen in love with his superior.
Kallima, however, refused to admit it. She simply saw him as another soldier whom was under her command. The only reason she gave him a little extra attention was because she knew how gloomy and unstable he used to be before the time War broke out. She knew she, too, had feelings for him, but as a soldier, she wasn't allowed to feel such emotions of attachment.
It wasn't until an odd summer's day that Morpheus decided to express his feelings to her. He asked her, politely of course, to meet him just outside the gates. He wanted to surprise her with something he had discovered not too long ago. A gorgeous bed of colorful flowers spread themselves along the grassy plains just behind the kingdom's walls. He was sure others knew about it, but he thought it would make Kallima happy. He knew she loved all sorts of flowers, so what better way to tell someone you love them than setting the mood with miles and miles of flowers?
Morpheus waited where he asked Kallima to meet him, just outside the walls. He wasn't in his usual attire, though. In fact, it was very rare to see him without his armor on. He sported a sage green farmer's boy shirt, at which the sleeve never reached past his elbows. His pants were of a normal brown leather, and never looked too loose or too baggy when he moved. He wore the same black boots he did whenever he wore his armor, but it was only for the reason of comfort, and laziness of changing. He cleaned up nicely, his hair had been slightly slicked back with some water, trying to keep it out of his face, and brushed to the side so his bangs were gently tucked behind his right ear.
Steps were heard from behind him, and he peeked to see if it was his love. Of course, it was none other than her, and by God did she look like Heaven. Her long, blonde hair had been neatly braided back and pinned with a beautiful, emerald and blue flower pin. She wore a pink and green summer dress, having the length cover her body completely if she stood still. The dress covered her shoulders sweetly, as though an embrace from a lover, and the sleeves glided their way down her arms like smooth silk. She looked beautiful, and nothing about her was off, as usual. Morpheus had fallen for a perfectionist, of course.
"Ah, My Lady sports such gorgeous attire this fine day. Pray you tell how thee can appear so beautiful within my eye each passing sun?" Morpheus complimented with a grin, taking up her hand to kiss the back ever so gently.
Kallima didn't smile back at him, accepting his compliment anyway.
"You jest", she replied.
"I know not of it", Morpheus answered.
"Then what is it thou wishes to show me?" Kallima asked in a skeptical tone.
Morpheus' grin widened, offering his hand to Kallima in hopes she'll take it. Not to seem rude, she took his offer and followed him behind the kingdom walls, constantly asking where they were going. Morpheus simply answered with the same thing each time; 'A magical place'.
Knowing they were almost there, Morpheus spun her around and covered her eyes, guiding her forward from behind. He leaned down to whisper into her ear, speaking sweet words to ease her nerves.
"Kallima. I am well aware that you and I stand at much different levels of knight-ship. Though, I can not even begin to express my undying love for thee. 'Tis understood we may never be one, and I am prepared for rejection. But, I have found a thing that I know shall help you decide."
He uncovered her eyes, and she slowly fluttered them open. She was speechless for a moment at the acres of daisies, roses, tulips, agapanthers, forget me nots, lilacs, lavenders, and everything else in between. She array of color made it hard to believe that nobody found this, but she smiled happily at the surprise.
"Dost thou...like it?" Morpheus asked, anticipating her answer.
Kallima decided to mess with him, and turned around with a straight face.
"Amused, yes. Though, asking if a Lady enjoys the surprise of simple flowers is not good enough", she started, keeping a straight face.
Morpheus' smile slightly faded, knowing it was too good to be true.
"But", Kallima continued, "Having been asked if I like them by the one I truly have feelings towards, as well, I can not say I have distaste for them. 'Tis understood thou hast undying passion for me, and I shall be called a wrench had I know spoken mine own thinking".
Morpheus was surprised to hear that Kallima felt the same way about him. He loved her as much as she loved him, and he was more than happy to share his feelings with her. His smile grew back on his face, and his hesitation to pull her in for a sweet kiss upon the lips was very little.
"'Tis of time thou hast accepted such feelings!" A familiar voice yelled from on top of the kingdom wall, followed by a girlish giggle.
Neacal and Marmara had been spying on the two the entire time. They had both been on watch duty that day, so spying on the younger of the teens sounded fun to them.
"Thou tongue shall meet the equivalent fate as that of Queen Percell", Morpheus threatened with a scoff, slightly irritated at them.
Morpheus truly did get his happily ever after, and he was more than happy to share it with Kallima. For it is said that two knights will forever share one bond that will be most difficult to break, for it only grows back stronger.
The End.
