Betty smiled weakly at him, "Well, what do you want to be?"

He sighed shakily, "I want... to be your person."

She giggled, "Jughead Jones, will you be my boyfriend?"

Betty had never seen him smile so big. It almost looked like it hurt. His eyes got a bit watery but he quickly closed them, leaning in to hug her. She giggled as he leaned her down towards the floor. She used to be scared he'd drop her, now that's the last thing on her mind.

"Yes," he said in her hair, "Princess, I've been yours since I first laid my eyes on you."

She shook her head, "I still don't understand why you didn't talk to me in sixth grade."

He rolled his eyes, sitting her back on the couch, "Cause I was fucking terrified of you!"

  "Why?"

"Cause I didn't want to get hurt again..."

She smiled, "I'll never hurt you, Jughead."

He smiled, "I hope not. Hey, y'know, we only have one more year of school. After that, we can run away together," he said, pulling her into his embrace.

"Like, Romeo and Juliet but we live happily ever after instead," she said, her voice breaking a little, "We can live together, and you won't have to live with Toni anymore. I know sleeping on the couch must get tiring."

He sighed, "It does. I wish I could stay here with you but your mom..."

  "Yeah..."

The two sat there in comfortable silence, just enjoying the moment; alone in their togetherness.

"My mom's going to be home soon," she said.

He shook his head, "You're not getting rid of me that easily, Cooper," he said, leaning her down on the couch, almost crawling on-top of her.

"No! My mom's not walking in on us having sex!"

He chuckled, "Who said anything about sex, princess?" he asked, kissing her neck.

She let out a small moan as he kissed up to her ear. He pulled her hair, causing her to moan again. Jughead had found her kink (hair pulling) early on in their relationship. And let's just say he uses it to his advantage.

He began kissing her jaw and up towards her mouth. He kissed the corner of her mouth a couple of times before stopping right in-front of her lips. But just as his lips grazed hers, he pulled away and sat up.

She whined at his teasing while he just chuckled, "You need to learn how to control yourself, blondie."

  "I wasn't the one on-top of you."

He shook his head, "Mind if I go to the bathroom to take care of myself?"

She sat up, "Yes! Ew, oh, my god! That's gross!"

He shook his head, "So, it's not gross when you're there, but it's gross when you're not?"

"I'm not saying masturbation is gross, I'm saying you're gross for wanting to jerk off in my bathroom!"

He rolled his eyes, "I would've done it in your mom's."

  She slapped his arm, "Jughead!"

He just chuckled, obviously joking about his previous remark, "Okay, but I do have to sneak away for a second. I have something to show you."

He had tried to get up, but Betty quickly grabbed his wrist, yanking him to sit back down, "What is it?" she asked, her eyes bright.

"It's a surprise," he scoffed playfully, "Don't ruin it, baby."

She slightly blushed at the new petname he had bestowed upon her. Not like she didn't already have any (betts, blondie, princess, etcetera).

"But I wanna know," she drug out.

He chuckled, "You would know sooner if you'd let me go get it."

She cocked her head, "Where is it?"

He threw his head back, "Enough with the questions," he said, getting up and jogging up to her bedroom.

She chuckled, trying to think of what it could be. Her diary? No. No, not yet. He wouldn't.

After a minute or two, Jughead had come back downstairs with a little rectangle present. It was wrapped and everything.

She giggled, "Another book, Jones?"

He shrugged, "Maybe."

He sat down next to her, setting the present in her lap. She hesitantly undid the bow that was tied around it. She then began ripping the wrapping paper. And as soon as she saw the print—

"Jug..."

He sighed, moving his gaze between her face and the present.

"My diary."

She ripped he rest of the paper off and pushed it off of her lap, onto the floor. She held the book in her hands, taking everything in. She wasn't blinking, just staring at it in awe.

"Betts," he took her hand, "What I did, taking your diary... wasn't right. You deserve it back. I shouldn't have taken it in the first place, but if I hadn't, we probably wouldn't be where we are now."

She shakes her head, "I can't believe it."

He chuckled at her reaction, "Yeah."

She opened the pages, seeing that he took very good care of it. Once she got to the last page, though, she saw a small note there - one she didn't write.

To my beloved,

I'm sorry I took this, I know it was wrong. But at the same time, I don't regret it one bit. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I love you.

Love, Juggie

A small tear rolled down her cheeks, processing everything. "You love me?" she asked, looking up at him.

He chuckled, "More than anyone or anything."

But soon, the smile that had covered her face for the past couple of minutes had faded. She realized what had just happened: she suddenly didn't feel the same way about Jughead.

She knew she was in love with to him, but now... she didn't know. Almost like she was only with him cause of this book in her hands. This is not the right time, brain, she thought to herself.

"Penny for your thoughts?"

She looked up at him, "Jughead..." she breathed.

Suddenly, a concerned look covered his face, "What?"

She held the book tight, "I... was playing with you this whole time."
