Time: 7:30pm
Location: Wallowville, Georgia

Z's POV:

I blinked as a dead little girl and I passed each other on the road.

She groaned a high pitch as she went to go find the source of a gunshot in the distance following and being followed by a few others in this small town in Georgia.

I quickly continued on my way wanting to get to a house to lock myself inside a bedroom. I usually do this when I hear humans nearby, just in case if they come into town and raid a house or two for supplies. I only lock the bedroom I'm in so if humans come into the house they might not try to pry open that bedroom due to being confined in a small space.

I spotted a house up ahead that I knew would be unlocked. I heard a couple more gunshots behind me where the group of creeps went, they were closer than the first couple. I knew I needed to get to that house fast so I started jogging towards the two toned 2 story home of tan and dark blue. I went up the porch and opened the door shutting it right behind me. I leaned against the door.

"That was close...." I sighed in relief.

I went into the kitchen to find some small snacks to take up into a bedroom with me. I grabbed a couple of bags of chips that was in a pantry, a chocolate chip granola bar, and 2 warm water bottles. I didn't bother opening the fridge knowing the stuff in there had all gone bad a long time ago.

I walked up the steps and found a bedroom with a single twin bed. I put my snacks on the table beside the bed and grabbed a red marker out of my bag I carry around with me.

I wrote on the door "Got bit. Wish to be left alone please." Hopefully, they decide not to come into this house if they're planning on stopping for the night. If so, then I hope they don't bust the door open just for this one bed.

I shut and locked the door after writing my message. I went over to the window and peaked out from behind the purple curtains into the quickly darkening neighborhood, seeing if I can spot movement of a human.

Nothing.

I looked around the room and saw a desk and chair in the corner. I went over and dragged the chair over to the window to sit and watch before I head over to the bed and relax, just to be safe. I also grabbed my small bag of goodies and sat in the chair with the curtain wide enough for me to see out, but for those outside not to really notice if the curtain was open. I had a really good view of down the street.

*An hour later*

I haven't heard a gunshot since an hour ago and I was growing bored and tired. I wasn't sure if I wanted to risk going out of this room and check down the hall in other rooms and a bathroom. 'Since I haven't heard or seen anything in an hour, it wouldn't hurt to check real quick and see if there was anything in the other rooms. I'll just keep my ears focused on any noises downstairs when I leave this room,' I thought.

I got up out of my seat and walked towards the door after one more check outside. I unlocked and opened it and looked down the hall focusing my ears for a minute, I walked out and made my way down the hall to a door quickly. There was 3 doors. I opened the first one on my left, it was a hall closet. I opened the first door on my right, a little kid's room. Stuffed animals and toys on a toy box at the foot of a small bed fit for a toddler. I frowned at the blood stains on the bed and floor, I knew that the child was probably sleeping when he/she was attacked. I quickly shut the door and faced the second door on my left, I turned the handle and pushed open the door. Inside was a master bedroom with a master bath attached, I went over to the bathroom and peeked inside. I noticed a pair of glasses on the right side of the bed on the beside table as I passed by. I walked into the bathroom and went over to the sink drawers, I found Tylenol, which is useless to me, a spare pair of glasses, and 2 different types of eye contacts. One type was for the ability to see, while the other type was designed to change eye color.

I picked up those, "These could come in handy if I ever run into humans. They can't be too hard to figure out, right?" I chuckled.

I froze.

Something came over me as I stood there staring at my reflection. I knew this feeling..... I can never forget it.

"FlEsh. HunGrrry."

NO!
