The hospital ward lights blinded her as to every morning she wakes up in her possible death bed. The sun rays slowly seep through the window blinds, landing on her navy blue blanket.
"I guess its pills first before actually eating a so-called important meal of the day"
The sound of the doors opening does not phase her anymore as the first month she was hospitalized. The doctor and the nurse came in with the pills and new Hv bag for her to consume into her body. She didn't feel anything anymore as to the two years of needed to go through this morning routine.
Soon after,the doors shuts close again, like hope did for her. The doctor said she could came out of the room without any assistance but have to stay in the hospital boundaries. She saw this as a chance to paint some fishes at the pond in the middle of the walkway towards the entrance of the hospital front desk counter.
She grabbed her small art bag and started heading towards the pond with the Hv bag stand in her other hand. Some of the hospital visitors looked at her weirdly, but she knows the reason, she looked different from the rest of the patients, more alive and young but yet has a mindset of a person on a death row. She was greeted by some of the nurses that served her food,she greeted them back nicely before continuing her way towards the pond where she get a sense of relaxation once again in her ever changing life.
The sound of the water fountain grew louder as she came closer, and little water dorplets began to land on her presence as if they are welcoming her into a hug.
An hour passed, it was time to get her own food from the cafeteria.
She didn't feel like consuming anything more into her body.
She knows she have to eat ,but recently her appetite left at questioning moments like this. She just decided to grab some snacks and a drink before heading back to her room.
At this moment,she had one focus on her mind 'snacks,drink,sleep'. She didn't hear the shouting of a beloved friend of hers. Until she was stopped in her tracks by a familiar touch on her shoulders that stops her.
"Song , you need to be conscious of your surroundings more. What if I was a runaway wheelchair?"
" The floor is not even a little slanted Haswna, its impossible for it happen unless someone pushed it with a large amount of strength"
" Typical Songhwa . I wasnt here to have you teach me physics. I'm here to give you a gift before I migrate to Japan with my husband"
Husband, of course. She's happy that her friend found someone to share her life with but she can't settle with the fact she wont get the same happy ever after. She looks at the carefully decorated gift bag before slowly grabbing it to not surprise her friend.
"SO i remembered that you wanted the limited edition Howls moving castle jewelary set from the ghibli museum, So as I saw it ,it reminded me of you. How you would always draw yourself wearing the jewellery. AND SO I GOT IT FOR YOU!"
She flinched a bit from the sudden outburst of voice. She could see her friend thinking vividly in her head of having a happy little family in Japan,living their best life. Her stonefaced expression doesn't show that she felt uneasy about the thoughts about it ,making her a closed book with a thousand of locks.
It took her a second a make out a satisfied expression at her friends thought and care for her.
She had a few people she trusted to tell her about her thoughts, her parents barely knew anything that goes in that mind of hers.
Songhwa leads Haswna to her room to have a more private chat.
The sudden temperature change from outside to the airconditioned room was alarming that she was almost startled by it. Haswna made her seat beside the bed at the desk and places down her handbag while Songhwa places her gift bag beside it.
" I'm not gonna wait until midnight for you to try on the jewellery you know"
They both let out a chuckle ,before watching Songhwa actions while grabbing the velvet box that had 'Howls moving castle' title emboided into it. Such gifts she will held dear to remember someone that has yet to leave her.
Haswna helped put on the necklace before turning her friend towards her.
Songhwa didn't know what emotions to show, all she knows that she loved the gift already the moment she heard about it. She enveloped Haswna into a loving hug ,as a means to say I love you so much.They both shared a tender moment together before pulling back.
They had a talk that lasted about 3 hours, talking about about video calling each other or just simply laughing at funny moments that happened in their lives.
These small moments that she cherished, kept in her heart and lock it to let it leave.
The moment ended when Haswna received a message that her Husband was in the carpark waiting for her arrival.
"don't forget to call me if you feel lonely again okay?"
"I wont ,have a nice flight and send me some more gifts from Japan. it makes me feel like I went there"
" I will, I told the rest that your here so they will visit you someday if they are not busy"
Songhwa gave an reassuring smile before sending her friend off to her to start a new life.
Feeling the necklace around her bare neck, she remembered she forgotten to get the snacks and drink.
Mentally facepalming herself as she headed out of her room again.
