Chapter 1

Riley stretched out her arms and strolled towards the wardrobe door. She laid out a outfit of denim shorts a crop top and a lace cardigan on the bed. This will do she thought to herself. She wound her self up in her clothes and took one last look in the mirror as she did her hair in a tight bun then walked out of the room shutting the door behind her. She looked across the hall at the bedroom opposite hers. Before Scarlet had passed away that bedroom had been hers. Now it belonged to their stuck up flat mate Mark. She sighed. She missed her sister so much, they had been the best of buddies, but she knew it was a fact of life, everyone dies at some point and when they do you just need to get over it. But Riley couldn't. As much as she wanted to it hurt her to much. She couldn't just forget about her just like that. Could she? She sat on the rail of the windy staircase and slid down until her feet felt the ground beneath them again. 'Morning honey,' her mum (Angelina) said as she greeted Riley with a plate of her favourite. Bacon, yum.

"Thanks mum.' She replied, a smile spreading across her face.

"Look I have to go to work now, you can walk to the bus stop and catch the bus to school, alright." Her mum said sweetly.

"Alright mum, but only as long as you don't talk to me in that sweet voice of yours again.' 'It creeps me out.' Riley answered between a hiccup of giggles.

"Ok, bye Riley, have a great day at school, love you.' 'Oh and give a shout out to Mark if anything happens.' And with that she was out the door rushing to the car so she wouldn't be late for work, again. Riley moaned today was going to be another long day.

Riley sat on the bus, gazing out the window. Unfortunately she couldn't see much though as the earlier group going to school had painted the windows with graffiti, right in the worst place possible. She sighed. The bus was full today and a headache was already beginning to form inside her pounding head. She reached for her plugs and shot them into her ears, blocking out the surrounding civilisation.

For a moment, the world disappeared and Lucia sat on the edge of a cloud, talking to her dad up in heaven. But that all soon faded away, her monstrous headache bringing her back to reality. Riley raised the volume on her iPod, trying desperately to get her head back in the clouds. But to Riley's despair all it did was make her headache pound harder.

The bus pulled up on the curb and out came the swarm of students.
