Day 62

"Yoongi, do you know why I cried when I was getting my lilac tattoo?"

"Not at all."

"You know how I mentioned my Younger brother?"

"Hyunjin, or the other one?"

"The other one."

"Yes, I remember. You said that he never left Daegu."

"That's right. He never did."

"Will he ever?"

"That's impossible."

"Wh-"

"He's dead."

"What-"

"Raiders. Jinhyung and I were the only ones home along with him. Hyunjin was with our eldest brother outside, and the rest were doing who knows what. Raiders were against our fathers... beliefs. They wanted revenge for what he had done to some of their people."

"What exactly did your father do?"

"You will realize eventually."

"But-"

"Anyways, I was in my little brother's room watching over him. He always wanted to play with me because Hyunjin, my twin brother, and I were the ones closest to him in age, but at the time I was... different. I didn't understand anything like that."

"Like what?"

"Let me finish, Yoongi."

"Alright. I'm sorry."

"I was seven at the time. He was four. It was fresh after our father left, so the raiders still had no clue he ditched us. I left to use the bathroom, and as I was washing my hands, I heard a struggle coming from his room. I of course went to check on him. The raiders had silently opened the window and held a gun to his head after hearing me enter. I guess they believed that my father was there and that seeing his children as hostages would get him to conform. I fought back, but there was clearly no way I could beat them. I did however manage to cause noise. Jinhyung heard and came running. He was caring at the time. He and our eldest brother had taken complete charge since my father left. He only had a kitchen knife with him. He fought and fought, but it wasn't enough. He had gotten one of them pretty badly, but it didn't make a difference. Physically, although he tried and was always at the gym, he was still weak for a 16 year old. He was more of the brains of everything. So, the raiders had become annoyed. They were fed up with fighting a bunch of kids. By then they realized that our father wasn't home. So instead they decided to make an example out of one of us. They were going to use Jinhyung, but I knew that he was too important to my brothers and how things worked. If he died, there would be one less caretaker, so instead I volunteered, but Jinhyung wasn't having it. He insisted that since I was a daughter and not a son, our father wouldn't care at all if I had died. Which was always true. Whether he was around or not, it was true. Eventually, they settled on killing us both and taking our little brother with them. Jinhyung went ballistic. He refused to submit to them. So, in the midst of a fight, a shot meant as a warning to us to back off, was what killed our little brother. The shot notified my eldest brother that something happened, so they knew they had to leave immediately. So they left Jinhyung and I there with our little brother, but instead of us being happy, I was stabbed, Jinhyung almost lost his leg, and my little brother had a bullet in his head."

"Soohyun-"

"The boy from the tattoo shop is just as naive, bliss, and innocent to all of this as my little brother was. The both of them had plenty of things in common. One of which was the fact that they both always bothered me to hang out with them, and they looked up to me."

"Is that why you-"

"Yes. I cried because I felt like my little brother was giving my that tattoo."

"Soohyun, could that be why Jinhyung spared you? Because everytime something horrible happened, both of you witnessed it together?"

"That may be it, however, at the time, I thought Jinhyung fought back to save all of us, and I think he thought he was too, but later I think both of us realized that he fought back because he himself didn't want to die. Anyways, he won't spare me again. He wants me dead."

"Why would he want you dead? I don't get it."

"There are many reasons it could be, but it doesn't matter what those reasons are. It just matters whether I survive or not."

"I want to believe all of this, Soohyun, I do, but it just seems so out there. Please understand."

"I do. I really do."

"Please Soohyun, don't cry."

"Woohyun."

"What?"

"My little brother's name was Woohyun."

"I'm so sorry. I wish I could have protected you from everything."
