The vibration of Calum's phone on the nightstand, a place he didn't remember leaving it, woke he and Holland the next morning. It was just after seven AM and the pair had gotten far less sleep than was ideal.

"Make it stoppp." Holland groaned beside him, burying her face deeper into his chest. He kissed her gently on her forehead, simply because he could and reached blindly beside him for the offending device. The corners of his mouth worked themselves upward  into a smile at the sight of the name on his screen.

" 's Luke." He told her and she sat up, suddenly much more awake already after remembering the reason they'd run into each other in the first place. Baby Cai.

"Call him. Call him." She enthused, her hand hitting his bicep repeatedly.

He chuckled. "Okay, okay. Geez, woman stop hitting me."

"Oops, sorry." She blushed.

His hand rubbed her back in a sign of affection and his silent way of telling her he'd only been teasing. He redialed his friends number, hitting the speaker button and waiting patiently for him to answer.

" 'lo?"

"You call?"

"Yeah, promise not to hate me?" Luke asked.

"Huh?" Calum questioned, his eyebrows knit together in a frown.

"Cai is here."

"Aw, man. You were supposed to call! But congrats, mate!"

"I know, I know but it was like three in the morning and I knew you probably didn't get any rest what with seeing Holls and all. You okay from that?"

Calum paused and his eyes dropped to the blonde girl who rested in his arms, how much should he share.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay." He said finally, Holland eyed him, a trace of something that looked a bit like hurt within her blue eyes.

He didn't know why she'd be upset with him but he would surely hear it in a moment when this phone call ended.

"Okay, she'll probably be up here so just, prepare yourself. I'm about to call her."

"There's —um, there's no need."

"What? She's our friend too, Calum. Of course we're going to call her." Luke said harshly.

"No, no that's not what I'm saying, it's just—"

"Hi, Luke." Holland said.

A long pause followed.

"Oh—um, hi Holland." The confusion was easily detectable in Luke's voice as he spoke.

"We'll be there soon to see Cai. Congratulations!"

"Thanks! We'll um, we'll see you guys soon."

Calum ended the call and sighed, his head falling back against his pillow as his fingers played in Holland's blonde hair.

"Are you upset with me?" He asked after a moment, his eyes trained on the ceiling above them.

"No, for a moment I thought you were trying to like, hide what had happened between us, but then I rationalized that I was being stupid."

"Yeah, not really a chance at denying it now." Calum smiled. He wasn't upset or worried about his friends finding out they'd reconnected, it was the opposite actually. He wanted to scream it from the rooftops that the girl he loved more than life itself was back in his arms but he was fearful. If felt too good to be true, like if he made one misstep the whole facade would fall away and he'd be shattered, never to be whole again.
