4 riddles

After what felt like years, Haneul, Jungkook and Yeonjun felt like giving up. A lot happened after Jungkook got weak.

The Mirror Maze was like game with different levels. The area of the room was decreasing. The number of doors had increased to five and they only got one chance to choose a door in thirsty seconds. Haneul once chose the wrong door but Yeonjun managed to save them.

"This is the last door. If this is not the end, I am going to get really angry." Jungkook said.

Yeonjun pushed open a door. They all gasped to the sight which was in front of them. It was a earthen cave with no sign of mirrors or glasses.

Jungkook happiness was beyond his control. But they soon realised that it was the end. The cave had no exit.

They could hear a sweet melodious voice singing from a distance. The trio hurried towards the sound and saw a girl sitting on a rock, back facing them.

Jungkook coughed to draw her attention. The girl stopped singing and turned around.

"Visitors!" The girl said in dreamy voice and fortunately, she looked quite happy. "Hi! I'm Cheong seon. What brings you here?"

"Is this the exit from the Mirror Maze?" Yeonjun asked even tho he couldn't see a way out.

After hearing Mirror Maze the smile from her face faded and her expression harden.

"No... No it's not. But if you will solve 5 riddles, I'll grant you a wish." Cheong seon said.

"We can use that wish to get out!" Jungkook suggested.

"Yes, but if you give a wrong answer to any one of the riddle...
You'll turn into stone...
Just like them." She pointed towards the left and then at the right as we follow her gaze and noticed people, just like them except their body were of stone.

"I think this was the death the book was talking about." Haneul whispered.

The trio formed a circle to discuss.

"What do you think?" Jungkook asked.

"We are three brains. I think we should give it a try, and besides it's the only way out, I think." Yeonjun said

"5 riddles won't be that hard, right?"

"Ok then let's do it, fighting!"

They turned around, facing Cheong seon again and told her that they were okay with it.

"Okay, so I'll start with a easy one...

What has holes but still holds water?"

"I grew up with this riddle! It's a sponge! It has holes but it holds water!" Jungkook said.

That's correct. I won't go too easy on you now. Next riddle...

What is seen in the middle of March and April, that can't be seen at the beginning or end of the either month?"

This riddle got them thinking. What could it be? Is it a season? Or a festival?

Haneul looked at Yeonjun for help.

"It's not a season for sure. I think it's something in the words 'March' and 'April'." Yeonjun thought aloud.

"R! The letter 'R'! It's between both March and April but not in the beginning nor the end!"  Jungkook said.

"You are absolutely correct! The next riddle is...

I have cities but no houses,
I have mountains but no trees,
I have water but no fishes,
What am I?"
