Ryder walked out of the choir room thinking to himself: "I know I feel ready for this, yet I'm still unsure what this will mean for my future." Ryder then began to sing while reflecting:
Sitting still as stone watching - watching
People walking by you wondering why
No one ever stops to talk or thinks about it – if they ever did
What if God shuffled by?
One day we might see
Doing not a thing
Breathing just to breathe
We might find some reason
But rushing around seems what's wrong with the world
Don't lose the dreams inside your head
They'll only be there til you're dead
Dream
Lying on the roof counting
The stars that fill the sky I wonder if
Someone in the heavens looking back down on me – I'll never know
So much space to believe
Funny when you're small
The moon follows the car
There's no one but you see
Hey, the moon is chasing me
I worried if I looked away she'd be gone
Don't lose the dreams inside your head
They'll only be there til you're dead
Dream
Walking through the wood
No cares in the world
The world has come to play
She's all mine just for a day
There's not a moment to lose in the game
Don't let the troubles in your head
Steal too much time you'll soon be dead
So play
All fall down
It won't be so long now
Out of the darkness comes light like a flash
You think you can you think you can
Sometimes that is the problem
Dream little darling dream
Spinning on the wind
The leaf fell from the limb
But everyday should be a good day to die
Oh all fall down
It won't be too long now
Every fire dies
I find it hard to explain how I got here
I think I can I think I can
Then again I will falter
Dream little darling dream
Spinning on the wind
The leaf fell from the limb
Ryder thought to himself, then remembered a phrase that Scott once told him: "Having dreams is what makes people tolerable. Don't think of it as a challenge, think of it as an adventure; A quest to behold upon oneself." Ryder smiled and nodded to himself. "Thanks Scott" he said.
Meanwhile, Scott left the art room and walked out to the football field. He then looked out onto the horizon with an uncertainty about his own future. He then began to reflect and sing:Fast, on a rough road riding
High, through the mountains climbing
Twisting, turning further from my home
Young, like a new moon rising
Fierce, through the rain and lightning
Wandering out into this great unknown
And I don't want no one to cry
But, tell 'em if I don't survive
I was born free!
I was born free
I was born free, born free
Free, like a river raging
Strong is the wind I'm facing
Chasing dreams and racing Father Time
Deep like the grandest canyon
Wild like an untamed stallion
If you can't see my heart you must be blind
You can knock me down and watch me bleed
But you can't keep no chains on me
I was born free!
I was born free
I was born free, born free
And I'm not good at long goodbyes
But look down deep into my eyes
I was born free
Calm, facing danger
Lost, like an unknown stranger
Grateful for my time with no regrets
Close to my destination
Tired, frail and aching
Waiting patiently for the sun to set
And when it's done, believe that I
Will yell it from that mountain high
I was born free
I was born free
I was born free, born free
And I will bow to the shining seas
And celebrate God's grace on thee
I was born free
I was born free
I was born free, born free
Scott smiled to himself after reflecting. "I know what I'm going to do." He said to himself.
