Chapter 2-An Awkward Situation
"Morning", Alice happily hopped onto the sofa next to me all happy and giddy. I just sat there quietly acting as though I was alone. I wasn't really sure where Edward had got to. At one point, I thought that he was ignoring me or just trying to ignore the situation from last night. I was worried about bringing it up to Alice. I was worried that she thought it may have been a bad idea, after all, it was a big thing to take into account. "Why are you being so quiet? Is something wrong? You haven't got into a fight with Edward have you?", ok, I have to admit, I think Alice was going a bit over the top there, it was like a game of 20 questions. "No of course not, nothing like that at all. Listen, I gotta tell you something and I want you to promise not to say anything" I had to give Alice a stern warning, for she can be quite chatty when she's all happy. "Well what is it, don't worry you can tell me anything, I promise I won't say a word","Well, you see, I was talking to Edward last night about my dad, and I told him that I thought it would be best if he...", we were rudely interrupted by Emmett and Jasper as they came skidding into the living room on the wet floor, and smacking their faces against the front door window. Edward came in, a little frightened about seeing 2 strange, funny looking faces on the window. "Alice can you give us a minute please", Edward sounded depressed as he opened the door and slowly walked in. Alice stood up, peeled Emmett and Jasper off the window and dragged them through to the kitchen by their hair. "I was thinking about what you told me last night, and I think your right, you shouldn't have to lie about who you are to your father", I could see by the look in his eyes that he wasn't happy. He seemed worried or afraid. "Are you sure it is a good idea, I mean you don't have to lie to me". For a moment, Edward looked positive and that he knew what he was saying. "I'm sure", he smiled at me, kissed me on my head and slowly walked away. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. It was Jacob. I haven't seen Jacob in ages, for a split second I thought he was ignoring me, he looked happy. Happier than normal anyway. He came in with a small black box in his hand. I was curious, very curious indeed. "Happy Birthday Bells". I opened the little box that he handed me, then I reached in and pulled a small wolf charm. It was one of the most beautiful charms that I had ever seen. " Wow Jake, you really shouldn't have, it's beautiful. Thank you". About half an hour passed, it was a very long half hour. After Jacob left, Edward came in. He held my hand and looked in my eyes. "It's time", we made our way outside and when I got into the truck, I felt really scared. When we got to my dads, I stepped out and took a deep breathe. I knew at that moment that that was a bad thing to do. I smelled a strong smell shoot up my nose. I was tempted to get my fangs out and run for the house, but I wanted to run away. I could smell the lovely smell of pure human flesh shoot up my nose and through my body. Edward grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight. "You ready", he looked me straight in the eye and kissed my cheek. We both slowly turned to face the house and began to walk to. As we approached the front door, the human flesh smell got stronger, I thought that at one point I wasn't going to handle it, but I did, just by using my gut and holding it together in my body.
