Early Sunsets

Ren's p.o.v

The streets were rampant with zombies. The flesh being torn and thrown on the street. The noises coming from the zombies sounded like wild animals and the screams filling the air like a wailing  siren. I made my way to danielle's, I had played this scene out in my head many times so every turn came as no surprise to me. I hid in all the darkest places I could find, sprinted like I had been running track for years, and taking out those brain sucking zombies. The first kill was weird, but it came natural so the next kills I made were bringing me a high I had never experienced. I kicked in the door to danni's apartment in time to see her leaning over her mother.

"What happened?" I yelled

"One of them broke in and bit her. I had to shoot." She cried out

I embraced danni in a hug.

"I am so sorry, but we have to get to the cabin." I told her

She looked at me with a pain in her eyes, and I knew I had to give her a second.

" I will wait over here until your ready." I said in a low tone

She gave me a slight smile as she knelt down by her mother. It was only minutes, but it felt like hours. Danni stood by me with her backpack and her gun in hand.

" where do we go from here?" She asked slinging the backpack on

" we put what we learned to good use and go to the hospital." I began to tell her when we were intertupted.

A snarl caught my attention, everything began to move in slow motion around me. I turned and saw danni with her gun drawn. We could see the zombie looking at us but not making any moves. I slowly reached for my gun before I could even draw my weapon the dead eyed zombie charged. Danni shot once and the zombie landed on the ground with a wet thud. We walked closer and saw the bullet hole right between his eyes. She looked shocked that she was able to get him with one shot.

" this is what we have been waiting for." I told her

" I am ready for it." She replied with a blank expression on her face.

Gerard's p.o.v*

We drove the bus just outside of New Jersey. The streets were piled with cars. Screams ringing out from every corner. We couldn't take the bus any further because of the evacuations. They tried to make us stay but I had to get to the love of my life, I had to make sure she was okay. We crept our way around the highways, hiding behind cars, and killing all of the brain eating creatures that got in our way. I felt like we would never make it  the zombies had just turned they ravaged the streets and any living thing that crossed their paths. We found our way into the woods so we could camouflage better. I didn't recognize where we were or even where we were heading, but I knew I had to stay strong, I had to make it, I had to stay alive. As night fell I took my phone out with all the chaos I didn't hear the last phone call I would ever get from my wife. I put the phone up to my ear with shaking hands to hear the voicemail.

"Hello, Gerard, are you there? Gerard I don't have time these things are trying to get in the house. I want you to know I love you so much and I am so sorry for not being with you on the road. Gerard I need you to run I need to keep safe. Don't come for me, please we will meet again I promise." The phone began to sound staticky and I could hear her scream before the phone went dead.

I could hear the pain in her voice i felt like i could see the tears streaming down her face. My whole body began to shake I felt sick to my stomach. I found a tree and began to vomit. The pain of losing the one person who made me feel like I was perfect was now gone. I knew what she had said, but I felt like I still had to find her. I felt a sense of hope for some reason. I didn't tell the guys what was going on so we could keep making our way into the suburbs. Mikey looked at me with bloodshot eyes.

" we are fucked." He said with a cracking tone

" we will get out of here alive, I promise you." I told him knowing I was lying.

We had to get out of here one way or another.
