"If you're okay with that, Y/n?"
'I'm going to be a hero.....and this time, by his side and my friend's side.'
You grin back, giving him a closed eye smile. "Of course I am, Shoto."
You stared up into the mismatched eyes of your, now formally announced, boyfriend, his eyes burning with determination to make sure everyone present knows who you belong to. The feeling of his heart beating loudly as you rest against his chest gave you the contradicting feelings of safety and embarrassment. To think, this boy who has once been stone cold to everyone including you, has warmed up and accepted you, staying at your side on your journey to become a better hero.
This was it. This was your starting line. From here on out, there'd be no more villain, but future hero Euphoria. Nothing would be strong enough to break your ambition, long as Todoroki was at your side.
"Everyone, you should be ready for class by now."
The entire class immediately tensed hearing that oh so familiar voice. Whipping your head around you saw it was none other than Aizawa, his burning red eyes in anger seeing his class wasn't ready. "Get moving." And with that, everyone found the motivation to wolf down their breakfast, dash to their rooms to get dressed until everyone was in uniform and gathered on the first floor.
You yourself, still have not mastered the skill of a tie, and was the only one leaving their tie undone (excluding explosion boy). Seeing this, Todoroki is quick to aid. "Y/n, let me do it for you." He walks over, "You guys go ahead. Sensei, we won't be late."
".... Fine. But the blame is on you if you show up late." And with that, the rest of the class heads out with Aizawa, leaving just you and Todoroki alone.
Todoroki takes the two ends of the tie, fixing it under your collar, and closing any sort of distance the two of you had previously. "Stay still," he whispers softly, his touch as gentle as sunlight, tightening and tying your tie with caution, as if you are the most fragile thing in this world.
You felt your breath hitch in your throat, a feeling that you knew too well whenever Todoroki did this to you. Once he finishes your tie, he presses a kiss to your temple, making you squeak in surprise.
Hearing this noise, he can't help but let out a soft chuckle. "Let's go now." He takes your hand, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, leaving you flustered as you follow behind.
The two of you walked in silence, until you reached the classroom. The final bell rang just as you took a step inside, all of your classmates letting out a sigh of relief.
"You guys barely made it!!!" Uraraka huffs, puffing her cheeks out in a cutesy manner.
"You know what happened in that room~" Mina chuckles darkly.
"Both of you sit down." Aizawa says sharply, cutting off any further teasing from the class. You nod the male, reluctant letting go of Todoroki's hand despite the internal screaming from you that begged to hold onto it longer.
You took your seat by Todoroki, mentally sighing as you wanted to find some sort of escape from the dreaded homeroom period.
"As I mentioned yesterday," Aizawa begins, "Our first objective will be getting your your provisional hero licenses. The license, grants you permission to directly become involved in hero situations, such as when lives are endangered. This carries a heavy weight, and it goes without saying, but the exam given for the license is extremely strict."
At this, you became a bit uneasy. Just how strict were these tests? Surely they weren't as bad as the finals.... Right?
"It is a provisional license, but having said that, the pass rate of the exam year to year, has always been less than five percent. And that is why, from today and onward, we'll be helping you,-"
"Come up with your very own.... Ultimate Moves~!" Midnight, Cementoss and Ectoplasm were also in on this special class.
"YES!!" the rest of the class cheered, happy to be doing something other than regular old class work for a change.
"Ultimate Moves!" Ectoplasm continues. "These are you finishers! Your most unique techniques!"
"Internalize these moves!" Cementoss cuts in. "Make them your own until they become unparalleled. Combat is all about finding and making use of your specific strengths!"
"Your ultimate move symbolizes who you are! Nowadays pro heroes without ultimate moves are a dying breed~" Midnight coos.
"Let's move forward with a more detailed explanation, and an actual demonstration. Change into your costumes and meet us in the gym gamma."
A few minutes later, you along with the rest of your class was gathered in the gym, dressed up in your hero outfits. "This is the Training Kitchen Lab. TKL for short." Cementoss says, as he starts shifting the ground of the gym into large pillars.
"This facility was my idea. Here I cook up the perfect terrain and objects for each student's needs." Cementoss explains, making you cringe at the failed pun attempt.
Todoroki, who was standing next to you sweat drops slightly. "So that's how the kitchen part plays out?" he questions, making Mina sigh, shaking her head as she heard this.
Iida's arm suddenly shot up. "May I ask a question?!" he asks his arm slicing the air once again as he stared at Aizawa-sensei. "Why do we need to make an ultimate move in order to acquire a provisional license?! Please explain the intention behind such a requirement!!"
"All in good time." Aizawa replies calmly, expecting this to say the least from Iida. "Heroes deal with accidents, catastrophes, and disasters both natural and man made. It's our job to save people from any situation imaginable. In the provisional license exam, it tests your ability to adapt in those situations, and will naturally be observed."
You became a bit nervous, knowing from what intel you've gathered before that this provisional license exam wasn't one to be taken lightly.
"Information gathering. Decision making. Mobility. Combat. Along with communication skills, charisma, leadership abilities." Aizawa continues to read off things that the testers would look for and overall made you more nervous. Noticing this, Todoroki grabbed your hand, giving it a small squeeze as he laced his fingers with yours.
A small blush crept up your cheeks, before you give him a small smile, before turning your attention back to Aizawa, Midnight, Cementoss and Ectoplasm.
"Among the criteria, you can expect that combat will be heavily prioritized for potential heroes. You have nothing to fear, however!" Midnight says, a smile on her face. "These moves could potentially have an impact on whether or not you pass."
"If you can keep a cool head and act using decisive, and stable moves," Cementoss adds, "That means you have a higher level of combat."
"But that doesn't mean your Ultimate moves have to be an attack." Ectoplasm faces Iida. "Take Iida's Reciprico Burst for example. That extreme speed boost on it's own is enough to be called an Ultimate move."
Iida let out a small gasp of surprise, feeling joy hearing that his Reciprico Burst was being praised. "Is it really... suitable to be an ultimate move?!"
Sato watched this, sweatdropping lightly. "I get it... So we have to come up with moves that'll give us the advantage in a battle."
"Correct!" Midnight confirms. "Remember Kamui Wood's Lacquered Chain Prison? It's a simple and easy to understand move."
