Chapter Twenty-Three: I Found It
It had been a week since I went on my road trip. I had been carefully avoiding Auric and I actually ended up switching out my car. I was now driving around in a camaro.
Anyway, I was sitting on the bed in my motel room watching Alice in Wonderland when all of a sudden, my door opened revealing Auric. He looked furious and to say I was scared was an understatement. For a few moments we just stared at each other not saying anything until he finally broke the silence. “Do you know how worried I've been!” he yelled glaring at me.
“Umm...” I replied stupidly.
“Do you know how much it scares me when you go off on your own? How do I know that you're not going to try anything again?”
“Do you honestly think that I'm going to try to kill myself when I know I'm pregnant? Do you really think I'm that unstable? I already love this baby and I'm not going to do anything to it.”
Auric sighed and cane over and sat on the bed. He put his arm around me and rested his head on top of mine. “I know, I'm sorry.” he replied quietly.
“It's fine, I'm sorry I made you worry.” I said wrapping my arms around his waist.
We stayed like that for awhile not saying anything. I didn't really have anything to say to Auric because I was going to leave him behind again. Auric decided to break the silence and I let him chatter away until we fell asleep.
At three in the morning, I woke up and carefully left the motel without Auric. I felt extremely guilty for leaving him with nothing but a note, but I hadn't found what I needed yet. I knew I was close though, and two days later I finally realized what I had been searching for.
From the moment I had been conceived, my entire life had been planned out for me. When I turned eighteen, I was supposed to marry the man my parents chose for me and take over their business. I was then meant to bear an heir to the company and then die.
However, my parents didn't plan for the unexpected. They didn't plan for the move to the U.S.A. They didn't plan for me to get raped. They didn't plan for, me to stop speaking. And they most certainly didn't plan for me to fall in love.
Auric had changed the entire course of my life. He threw it off kilter and changed me. I had been stuck looking at the world through a lens and he made me see the world through my eyes.
He showed me a world that I didn't know existed. He taught me how to trust again. And he gave me the love I never had. Auric is the person who had saved me countless times and I loved him.
The thing I had been searching for this entire time had been the freedom I was never given. I was never given choices, I was always told what to do and who to be. I never argued and I tried to be obedient but Auric changed that.
When I had finally figured out what I had been searching for, I got out of my car and photographed the place I was at. When I was done, I smiled to myself and made my way back home.

It took me a few days to get home and when I finally did, I was greeted with angry parents. I didn't really care though and I told them so with a smile. They were shocked when they heard me speak and that made me smile even wider.
Apparently, after the whole motel incident Auric actually came back to my house to wit for me. I motioned for him to come outside with me and he followed. The moment I closed the door, Auric's expression darkened. “So, what's the important thing you wanted to talk to me about?” he asked.
“Well, I wanted to thank you...for everything you've done for me.” I said hugging him.
“Wait, you mean you don't want to break up with me?” he asked confused.
“No you dummy, I love you. Also, I'm going to keep saying it until you stop cutting when I say it.”
“Wait, you knew about that too?”
“Yeah, you started wearing long sleeves a lot more so starting right now be prepared because I love you.”
“What have I gotten myself into?” he asked with a chuckle.
“A lifelong relationship with this.” I said pointing to my face.
“Well then I'm glad.” he replied and kissed me.
The two weeks after I got back were pretty harsh. We told our parents about the baby and I ended up being locked in my room. However, I usually snuck out the window at night to see Auric. He was such a bad influence on me.
After that, I told my parents I was going through with the wedding with Auric and the wedding planning commenced. My parents were very distraught with what happened to me but I didn't care, I was taking charge of my life finally. I also told them that I wasn't taking over their business and they were crushed.
Finally, back at school I started talking again and I actually managed to make a few friends. I was still pretty quiet around them because I wasn't used to talking with other people but they didn't mind.
After being broken for so long, I was piecing myself back together. After so long my life was finally getting back on track.
A few months after I came back from my whole road trip and another trip to England, I decided to visit someone. I went to the graveyard and found the stone with Kyan's name on it. I sighed and sat on the grass in front of it. “Well, hi I guess.” I started off.
“So, you died...obviously. Anyway, I came here to do the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Before I get to that though, don't expect anymore visits because I still don't like you. However, I came here to say that while I don't like you and despise your actions towards me, I forgive you. I can't live my life filled with hate for what you did to me, so I absolutely forgive you. I still don't like you though. Oh and I brought you something.” I said placing a photograph I took of Kyan when I first moved here on top of his grave with a rose.
“Have a nice after life.” I replied getting up and leaving.
I had finally freed myself from the past and I was ready to move forward with my life. I smiled to myself at that thought and walked back to my house where Auric was waiting to take me on a date. My life was finally going right and I loved it.
