I was at the barbershop with Junie. Usually I'll take her to Milani but I didn't want to overdo plus me and Ant hadn't talked for days even though he'd been blowing up my phone. I just simply ignored him.
I finished shaping up one of my newer clients.
"You always get me right" he said looking in the mirror.
"Supposed to" I said, smiling looking at the work I just did.
"Here you go" he said handing me $100 dollars.
"You gave me to much , you just got a shape up which is $20" I said.
"Keep it Nova I'm straight" he said walking out.
I put the money in my purse and sat with Junie. She was on my phone watching Cocomelon. I sat back and listened to what Pop and the boys were talking about.
"Ok now listen , how many times you seen a dog fucking" Pop asked.
All you heard in the barbershop was " a lot" or "a whole bunch".
"Ok now, how many times you seen a cat fucking" Pop asked.
"Ian never see that one " Duke said.
Everybody in the shop shook their head in agreement.
"Exactly, these hoes smoother than you think y'all lil niggas need to stay up on game" Pop said looking back down at his newspaper.
"Man you finna make go murk this bitch , cause that shit adding up" Tre said, laughing.
Everybody in the barbershop started to laugh. I enjoyed being here because it was always a good day for me. I seen the door open and Ghost walked in. I rolled my eyes and started to clean off my station.
"I need a cut" I heard.
I looked up and seen Ghost standing in front of me.
"And I need a million dollars" I shot back.
"Why you asking stank mouth and not getting right wimmie" Duke asked.
"Fuck you" I said, hearing his slick remark.
"I'm trynna see what ma be bout" he said, still staring at me.
Did he just call me ma
"Nova girl get yo ass up and cut this man hair. Cause if he get mad and start shooting this bitch up it's coming out yo check" Pop said.
"Pop you gon stop doing me like that" I said , getting up.
He waved me off and continued reading his paper. I don't know why he won't get a phone . Got that old ass flip phone but it ain't none of my business.
Ghost sat down in my chair and I started to cut him up. He had waves and baby boy was swimming. His hair was nice though you could tell he kept up with it.
35 MINUTES LATER
He looked in the mirror and ran his hand across his hair.
"Damn ma, you ain't to bad" he said, looking at his hair.
"I does this , stop playing with me" I said brushing invisible dust off my shoulders.
"Yeah whatever , how much I owe you" he asked.
"35" I said.
"Here" he said handing me two crisp $100 dollar bills.
I happily took the money and started cleaning off my station. Only reason I was happy to take it was because of everything this nigga said to me, words hurt now.
As the day went by , the shop started to die down. Trey finally left and it was just the workers with their last customers. Pop always let me go early because he didn't want me walking around here too late at night. Today he let me go extra early since I had Junie.
"Bye y'all " I said grabbing my purse and Junie .
Everybody in the shop said goodbye and we left.
As we were walking home I heard somebody yell "Aye". I didn't even turn around instead I picked up Junie and started walking faster.
"It's Tyshear dumbass " I heard.
I turned around and seen Tyshear walking behind us.
"Y'all walking home" he asked.
"What it look like I'm doing" I asked, looking at him as if he was dumb.
"Yo attitude gon get you fucked up one day"he said turning around walking to his car.
"Oh well " I said , shrugging.
He turned around looking at me and Junie because we were still standing in the same spot.
"You could be trying to kill me" I said.
"Bring yo ass on " I heard him say.
I rolled my eyes then, followed him and he got in a Mercedes Benz . It was black with all black interior inside. Nice as hell. I strapped Junie in and sat in the front.
The car ride was silent and awkward . We could've just walked.
"Do you pew pew people" Junie asked.
My eyes popped out of my head.
"Junie" I raised my voice and said.
"She straight , chill" Tyshear said, laughing.
"No I don't pew pew people" he said, with a soft voice.
This was the first time I actually heard him speak without so much aggression. He pulled into my driveway and unlocked the doors.
"Thanks for the ride" I said getting out the car.
He pulled me back in and handed me his phone.
"Put your number in " he said.
"Why weirdo" I asked, mugging him.
"Nigga just do it" he said shoving the phone in my hand.
I rolled my eyes then put my number in and handed him his phone back.
"Bye mr. pew pew man, because I know you pew pew people your just telling a fib " Junie said as I got her out the car.
"Bye" Tyshear said laughing .
"Take yo ass inside" I said, through gritted teeth.
She ran in the house and I shut his back door.
"Ight imma fuck with ya " he said.
"Mhm bye" I said walking away from the car.
I walked in the house and heard his car leaving the driveway.
"So who the fuck is that" I heard.
I sighed before turning around.
