"And just where have you two been?" Divinity inquires as Storm and I walk back onto the beach.
"We went for a swim."
"You were gone for quite a while."
"We went down to the cave," Storm explains, which seems to get their attention.
"Ooooo! How was it?" Divinity asks.
"It was amazing. You've never been down there?"
"No, I haven't gotten a chance yet. Maybe Jason and I will take a dip in a little bit," she hints.
"Hmmm?" Jason acts as if he didn't hear. Divinity lightly elbows him in the side, which makes him laugh.
"We'll go whenever you're ready."
"What time is dinner? I'm starving," Dru complains.
"As soon as you fire up the grill genius," Troy plays.
We have a relaxing week. A few days of total relaxation is exactly what we all needed, just to get away from the craziness that is our life.
Friday night, Mom, Dad, Scarlet, and Tristan arrive. Dad and Tristan go outside with the guys to barbeque, while we girls stay inside with Mom and Scarlet to cook and gossip.
"So have you girls been having a good time? I feel like we haven't seen or talked to you in forever. I was beginning to forget what you all look like," Mom laughs.
"Yeah, it's been great. Very relaxing."
I haven't even told my sisters about what happened between me and Storm our first day here, but I don't think they suspect anything. Mom doesn't seem to notice any difference either.
"What have you been doing?" Scarlet looks straight at me.
Oh no. She doesn't know.
She can't know.
But she's psychic.
I look away so she can't see my eyes.
Divinity answers, "We've done a lot of swimming and taken turns going down to the underwater cave. It's so beautiful. We've played games and watched movies too."
"Underwater cave?" Mom is instantly intrigued.
"It's a large pile of rocks out in the middle of the lake, and if you swim down far enough you reach a hole that takes you up into the middle of them. The sun gets in through a hole in the top and reflects everything blue."
"That sounds amazing. I would love to see that. How deep is it?"
"If you don't know what you're looking for, it can be dangerous, and it gets a little dark. But if you wanna go, we can show you where it is."
"I'll talk to your father. I'm guessing it's a couple's thing?" she raises an eyebrow in amusement.
"Pretty much."
"Salad is done. Rice is done. Corn is done. Beans are done. Are we missing anything?" Scarlet asks.
"Yeah, the ribs."
"What's for dessert?" Eliza asks.
"I made brownies," Aurora tells her.
"We brought pie too. Banana cream, lemon meringue, and custard."
