Summer

The day started off more amazingly than I had imagined.

When I stared at Theo's beautiful face like a creep while he slept, I didn't think it could get any better, but it did.

He made me breakfast. Staring at a hot guy while he made me food did things to me.

He was so focused on the task, it was cute actually. But I couldn't help thinking about my meeting with the police chief in the afternoon.

He surprised me again by being a thoughtful and considerate guy. He was literally perfect.

I had actually forgotten for a second why I was here. Until Leah burst in.

I was looking for Lara. I woke up early today, not expecting her to not be there at the base. She hadn't returned any of my texts or calls.

A voice at the back of my head told me she had betrayed me and ran away. Seeing Leah here had somewhat removed my suspicion. But in case I was right, well, I can take Leah hostage.

After Theo went to get ready, I decided to snap back to reality from my dream world.

Before I could ask anything to Leah, the door opened. Lara strolled inside in her jogging clothes. She looked pissed.

Why was she pissed?

"Why are you here? " She asked me as soon as she stepped in.

"In case you've forgotten, I own this house. And Leah is my friend. I can come here whenever I want, " I shrugged.

"I was out jogging, like I do everyday. Which you'd have noticed if you weren't busy sleeping every morning. "
My mouth pressed into a thin line. Leah looked at her and then back at me, not knowing what to do.

Before I could reply Theo's face popped out from behind the door of his bedroom. "Is summer still her-" He froze mid question when he saw Lara and sensed the tension in the year.

Lara gave him her deadliest glare. "What are you doing here now? "

Theo looked extremely confused. "I live here? "

"Let's talk somewhere outside, " She turned to me.

"Lead the way, " I told her.

I left after waving goodbye to Theo and Leah. I deliberately took my time hugging Leah, and blew a kiss to Theo, just to piss her off.

We walked till we reached a side alley, and hid ourselves from view.

"One hour. I was gone for one hour Summer. I don't like you taking my girlfriend hostage just because you didn't hear from me for an hour! "

"I didn't take her hostage. I was looking for you. Because you couldn't return my goddamn calls! "

"It's 7 in the morning. You're usually asleep at this time. How was I supposed to know today all of a sudden you'll decide to call me! "

"You know this is not a normal day, " I sneered. "And you're supposed to pick up my call no matter the time! "

"Or what? You'll take Leah hostage? You know I don't go to her house much because of her roomate. And you've never visited her before. You can't fool me. I know how you think. "

"So that's why you never go to Leah's place, her roommate is a freaking police officer, and you never thought to inform me? I thought you just hated him. "

"I didn't think it was important. That building is part of your legal business. I didn't think there'll be a problem. "

"I don't care what you think about it. If you know something fishy, you inform me about it! "

She snorted, "you don't have any right to tell me that. You're going on a freaking date with a police officer tonight. I never expected you to do something so stupid. You are putting everything at risk at the worst time imaginable! And you have the audacity to scream at me? "

My eyes darkened. I was dangerously close to losing my calm. I took a step towards her personal space. "I think you're forgetting that you work for me. You have to pick up my calls whenever I call you. You need to inform me about everything. You need to do exactly what I say. And you don't tell me what to do. "

She glared at me defiantly. "You're being an ass for no reason. This isn't going to help you. You should-"

"Shut up. Go to the base, " I ordered, already walking away. "And stay there, till I tell you otherwise. Or there will be consequences, and I'm not kidding when I say that. "

"Fuck you, " She cursed, but didn't disagree, which was more than enough for me.

But her words still echoed inside my head. Putting everything at risk.

I know she was right, but it didn't feel like it. Everything is going down anyways, so why not take a chance at some temporary happiness. Even if it's doomed from the beginning.
