Chapter 4: A ruined birthday

It's now a few days since that morning and today it's a very important day because it's Harry Potters birthday. Hermione was in the kitchen with all the others making the breakfast with Mrs Weasley while George, Ginny, Ron and Mr Weasley was setting up the table with plates, glasses and a flag.

After 10 minutes the table is now fully set and the breakfast is done, now the only thing which needs to be there is Harry who's actually just in this moment was walking down the stairs.

Harry's POV:

Harry was walking downstairs and could smell that breakfast was made. He wasn't excited even though he probably should, but he wasn't because there really wasn't anything to be excited for. Harry walked into the living room seeing a beautiful table with red and golden colour, and a perfectly made breakfast, and suddenly he heard:

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY!" the Weasley's and Hermione jumped out of their hiding spots and Harry jumped at least 1 foot backwards. "Please never do that again," Harry said really meaning it. "Happy birthday love!" Ginny went and hugged him kissing him on the cheek. Harry looked over at Hermione who suddenly had gotten quiet, and tried to get eye contact, but was unsuccessful. 

"Harry sits down," Mrs Weasley said sending him a smile, we have made you breakfast. "You really shouldn't have done this Mrs Weasley... I don't deserve it" Harry said really feeling guilty about what had happened doing the war. "Don't be a fool, Harry! You have given this family so much!" Mrs Weasley said sharply. 

"Sit down mate or the food will get cold!" Ron said already sitting at the table ready to dig in. Harry went over and sat down at the table and so did the rest, and after 30 minutes everyone was done, and it was now time for the presents. Harry began opening getting a ring from Ginny, Hagrid had given him some candy, Mrs Wealsey and Mr Weasley have given him a new shirt, George had given him a large box full of things from the joke shop and now it was Hermione.

"Harry... I must be honest with you here, but I haven't gotten anything for you..." Hermione said looking down. Harry looked at her and said: "Don't worry Hermione... you don't have to give me anything and you know that." Hermione looked at him and Harry could see that she needed some breathing room. "I think I need some air do you want to come with me, Hermione?" Harry asked already knowing what she will answer. "Okay, Harry..." Hermione got up and followed Harry outside.

They walked in silence down to the little lake... Harry could see Hermione was upset, but he didn't know what to say it was like words weren't enough anymore, and it looked like Hermione was thinking the same. "I'm sorry Harry," Hermione said, Harry looked at her and could still see that she was looking down. "Hermione look at me.." Harry said trying to catch her attention fully. Hermione looks up some seconds after... and they now had eye contact, Harry looked right into her brown sparkling and beautiful eyes. 

Suddenly they got closer, closer and closer... they now stood face to face only an inch away from each other, but then... "Harry! Hermione! What are you doing!" a loud and angry voice said. Harry jumped away in shock and saw Ginny clearly very upset. "I swear it was nothing Ginny!" Harry said trying to save the situation but knew it was too late.

"Of course it was nothing Harry! You are just trying to save the situation, you kissed her didn't you! Even before I arrived here!" Ginny said even louder than before. "Ginny let me explain please!" Harry said clearly desperate. 

"No Harry Potter! You have done enough don't you think I have seen how you always have picked Hermione over me!" Ginny said now nearly up in Harry's face. "Ginny..." Harry only said before getting hit right on the cheek which caught him off guard and then a huge push and then SPLASH! 

Hermione POV:

Hermione couldn't understand what just happened and was still shocked... here she stood like an idiot and did not know what to do or how to react. Harry was in the lake and Ginny had stormed off... Hermione turned to Harry and helped him up. "Thanks, Hermione," Harry said with one of the fakest smile ever. "Harry I'm sorry... I shouldn't have acted like a little girl..." Hermione said feeling really guilty. "Hermione stop... you didn't do anything wrong now let's go back," Harry said already walking back to the burrow.

Hermione followed Harry to the burrow, and Hermione could feel that something bad was about to happen... she could not exactly say why, but her instinct was alarming. When they reached the burrow's entrance, Ginny came out with Harry's things and threw them on the floor. Hermione looked at Ginny and could see the fire and true hate in her eyes. "Now take your things and leave!" She lashed out. Hermione looked at Harry... who wasn't saying anything but was walking up to his things packing them into his bag.

A few seconds later Harry had packed his things, Hermione wanted to tell him that he could stay, but she just couldn't get a word out. "Where's my Prestissimo?" Harry asked and you could hear the fear in his voice. "Oh, you mean this?" Ginny said holding the Prestissimo clearly enjoying this moment.

Hermione knew what she was about to do... she was about to smash it she had to stop her, "Stop Ginny!" Hermione said trying to sound a lot braver than she really was, but it Ginny clearly annoyed her, and Hermione could finally see that this was a battle between Harry and her.

Ginny then smashed the broom and then threw it right at Harry... Harry stood there and you could see the tears coming down... after all, it was the broom that Sirius gave him for Christmas. "Oh don't you cry like a baby Potter!" Ginny said coldly and you could see her smiling evilly. 

And then after that sentence, there was silence... and before Hermione knew it Harry was gone.
