In 1945 Annelise and her two daughters were sent on a death march. On the verge of death from starvation and disease they were liberated by American troops.

They were brought to their hometown where they were able to gain their health and strength in their old home.

Seraphina had ran home after Allied forces had raided the town she was being held in. She was reunited with her mother and sisters.

They would go to the train everyday, waiting for the rest of the family to join them.

Soon, Traugott and Gabriel, the youngest sons, returned home.

They continued going to the train, waiting for their father.
