I unlocked the front door, stepping inside my home.
As usual, he wasn't home.
I sighed, closing and locking the front door, slipping my shoes off and walking up the stairs to my room.
I lightly kicked the door open with my foot, then scurrying in my room, tossing my stuff on my bed, and looking at the muddy novel.
I walked over to my bathroom, flicking the lights on, careful to not get any mud on the switch.
I turned the faucet on, washing the mud off my hand and then grabbing a dirty towel, soaking it in the water.
I gently rubbed the spots of the cover that had mud on it, careful to not ruin the book even more.

I was sitting on my chair, studying for a math test, but also doing my homework.
I kept pondering about random things instead of actually studying.
Then..
That same memory came flooding back.
———
I huffed as I helped my uncle carrying the files, then placing it down.
"Thank you for helping me, Shuichi." He said, sitting down on his chair, taking out a file and flipping it open.
"It's no problem!" I replied, swaying anxiously.
"Hmm, you can go home if you like, I have a very serious case to handle." He said, reading over the reports.
I couldn't help but get a bit curious. "U-Um actually..I-I want to stay a bit..u-um-! What's the..case about?" I asked, walking over to my uncle to maybe peek at the file.
He shook his head, placing the file down. "Shuichi, I think it's best if you go home." He said, getting up and pacing around his room.
"But..I want to help..!"
He chuckled lightly. "No no, Shuichi. You've helped a lot already, I don't want you to help even more."
I frowned slightly before he exited out the room.
Then, I suddenly had an idea.
———
The officers were quick to arrest him after I solved the case.
They patted me on the back, giving me the title of 'Junior Detective'.
I don't deserve it.
Not after what I found out.
And not after when he looked at me.
I felt guilty.
He only killed the victim because the victim was a horrible person.
I felt regret.
His eyes were glaring with hatred.
I felt like I had just shrunk.
I kept telling them I didn't deserve the Junior Detective title.
They don't believe me.
I can't even call myself that after what had happened.
———
I had my eyes shut tight, knees unconsciously brought up to my chest. I didn't realize until I manage to snap out of the horrible memory and opening my eyes.
My desk was a mess.
Homework and notebooks were everywhere.
I frowned slightly, deciding to check the time.
12:03 AM.
I sighed, deciding to study tomorrow.
I gathered my notebooks and homework, realizing I didn't give Kokichi his homework.
Agh! Shoot! I guess I'll give it to him tomorrow.
I unzipped my backpack, placing everything in it, then zipping it back up.
I turned my desk lamp off, only the moon illuminating through my windows and through my black curtains.
I sat on my bed, then laying down and staring up at the ceiling, the moonlight also shining on my blanket.
I unconsciously reached for my phone, unlocking my phone. I stared at my wallpaper for a bit, apps everywhere and in groups.
I decided to go on twitter, tapping on my 'Social Media' group, then tapping on the bird icon.
Huh.. seems like I missed some things.
I scrolled through my TL (Twitter Timeline), liking and retweeting posts I like, occasionally leaving replies if I felt like it.
A particular post caught my attention though.
It was posted 4 hours ago.
Oh! It's my internet friend.

I sighed, exiting out of twitter and deciding to go on tiktok until I can actually fall asleep.
Mainly, a lot of weird stuff was on my For You Page.
I mindlessly scrolled through my for you page, getting sleepier and sleepier each time.
I yawned, checking the time before I go to bed.
3:06 AM.
I plugged my phone, letting it rest on my nightstand, then getting myself comfortable in my blanket before dozing off.
I'm going to absolutely hate tomorrow..
