Chapter 2-

As I rushed to my locker after third period, I couldn’t help but feel joyful. My first date. James never took me on a date, he just wanted to stay at his house and throw huge parties.

The hairs on the back of my neck tingled as I realized someone was standing behind me. I turned around to find James looking devastatingly handsome, as usual.

“Hey Beth. I know I never got the chance to talk to you. I just wanted to say no hard feelings, right? We cool?”

I frown at him “‘no hard feelings’? Fuck you James” I say as I slam my locker.

“So this must be your ex?” a husky voice whispered in my ear. Castiel. I look up to see his attention turned toward James’s direction.

“Hey we were talking, do you mind? He says.

“Actually James we’re done here.” I start to turn away when he pulled on my arm. Before I could think to react Cast had him shoved up against a locker.

“She said you’re done. Leave her alone James. Do you understand?” he asked firmly. James struggled with words so he nodded.

“Good,” he paused and straightened, “now, Beth, let’s go eat.” He says.

I look down to see him searching for my hand and place mine in his and we walk down to hall.

*.*.*

“So tell me about this asshole”

I look up from the salad I kept moving around, I thought about playing clueless but I think he deserved to know, and I didn’t know why.

‘Well, there’s not really anything to tell. It was like a popular thing. I was head cheerleader and he’s captain of the football team. He cheated on me once with Brittany and of course, I forgave him but I was still unhappy... I also thought I loved him.” I felt the tears and forced them back.

“Can I ask you something?” I ask as I pick at my food. He pushes his food away and folds his hands across the table. “Anything.” He smiles at me and I can’t help but blush.

“Have you ever fallen in love?”

“I almost did once, but I would want to. Someday I hope.” He sighed. “What about you? Were you in love with James?” he asked with a disappointing voice.

“I thought I was, but as you can hear, he hurt me in the end. Again. So, no, I haven’t been in love yet.”

He reaches across the table and brushes his fingers across my cheek, I wince, “Your hands are cold.” He frowns and began to move his hand until I place mine over his

“It’s okay.” I smile.

“It he only way I can see you.”

His fingers trace my eyes, lips, and nose. He frowns.

“What’s wrong?’

He moved his hand and places it back on the table.

“We should get back to school.”

I frown, “But you haven’t even touched your food, Cast. What just happened there?”

“You didn’t eat either Beth, you just moved it around.” He said as he started to stand. I place my hand over his to keep him from moving,

“How’d you know that?”

The more surprised I got by him the more it made me curious to know more about him.

“I didn’t hear you chew or digest the whole time either. Now let’s get back.” He said as he pasted on a smile that didn’t fool me one bit.

“Fine. Let’s get back.”
